Clever lyrics seldom lead to clever songwriting,

Offenders
o Crass - Crafty lyrics, shltty sound
o Aus Rotten - Inspiration with at an intollerable rate

Examples to us all
o Jimi Hendrix - Purp[ously bad lyrics] Haze, great song
o Black Sabbath - Generals gather in their massssesssssssss!

She made the indian Sun,
and took it right away,
She made the indian Sun,
and took it right away,

I'm going back to my bad old ways
I know my Momma she would be ashamed of me

Oh She Turns me down
spins my world around instead

She made the indian Sun,
and took it right away,
She made the indian Sun,
and took it right away,

I'm going back to my bad old ways
I know my Momma she would be ashamed of me

Oh She Turns me down, and spins my world around instead

Listen, Understand

Not my style, but it was a groovy song..very catchy actually
This is a good example of how very simple lyrics can be made more when you throw them with good music.
Sooo thanks for posting the music.

Oh She Turns me down
spins my world around instead

if i'm honest, this is the only part i had anb issue with, the rest wasn't bad and i quite liked the sounds of the words, if not the subject matter etc.

and i can't listen to the music right now, so sorry about that.

and about the claims in the first part of your post, i shall merely direct you in the direction of messers Roger Waters, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits and David Bowie. good song writing, and good lyrics.

and David Bowie. good song writing, and good lyrics.

Bowie is quite obviously the Don, and yes there are as many complicated masterpieces out there as there are simplistic. Both styles have their strong points, lyrically intense songs have the power to capture your imagination yet simplistic music can bewitch and encaptulate a moment.

Alot of folks try to force styles they are not comfortable with on here, creating an illusion that in time they begin to believe themselves. This can only lead to a downwards spiral into terrible writing and frustration.

Goolden years, what what what
Gotta listen to some bowie now!

got to love the lyrics for Five Years. and pretty much most of Ziggy

I think I saw you in an ice-cream parlour, drinking milk shakes cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine, dont think
You knew you were in this song
And it was cold and it rained so I felt like an actor
And I thought of ma and I wanted to get back there
Your face, your race, the way that you talk
I kiss you, youre beautiful, I want you to walk

Haha,

no arguments here it is surely a work of pure genious. Golden years however has to be my all time favourite Bowie song, the way the lyrics flow and the general sound of the song just does it for me, its one ill never get bored of.
