Rather than doing these threads bi-weekly, I've decided to do them month-by-month. The dates will change depending on if I find new artists that I feel are talented enough to analyze. But, I have found Dissection's lyrics great. Rather than generic Satanic lyrics, Dissection focus on an anti-Cosmic Satanism (Anti Cosmic Satanism is actually hard to find/research. A lot of times it's referred to as Misanthropic Luciferian Order). At the end of my article I will link a Wikipedia page that explains what it is. But, time to get started! We will first be looking at one of their most popular albums: Storm of The Light's Bane.

Dissection

Where Dead Angels Lie

In the dawn an angel was dancing
Surrounded by an aura of light But in the shadows something was watching
And with patience awaiting the night
Angel whispers: "Mournful night, attractive night,
Your dark beauty obsesses me"
An angel bewitched by the shadows
Seduced by the whispering lies

A spell was cast an the sky turned red
The angel's heart froze to ice
The blackness that falls is coming to stay
Under the snow lies angels so cold

Dusk has passed and a cold morning breeze,
is sweeping all over the plain,
On the ground lies an angel with skin so pale,
On her face an image of pain,
Snow is now falling to the frozen ground,
The angel is covered by white,
Frost is spreading across the plain,
To welcome the eternal night.

The dress is white with crystals of ice
And frozen roses so red
Roses of blood from an innocent soul
On the plain lies an angel dead

A spell was cast an the sky turned red
The angel's heart froze to ice
In the gloomy sky black clouds were gathering
The silence was broken by cries
A spell was cast an the sky turned red
The angel's heart froze to ice
In the gloomy sky - The silence where dead angels lie

Touch the snow...Caress the lifeless sculptures
Die!!!

The blackness that falls is coming to stay,
Under the snow lies angels so cold,
Yet with each crystal of frost that is falling,
Another story is told,
A spell was cast an the sky turned red,
The angel's heart froze to ice,
In the gloomy sky - The silence where dead angels lie.

Jon's beliefs are focused totally opposite from modern Satanism. He is totally against Anton Lavey and the Church of Satan: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satanism)--Modern Satanism information.

There are a lot of key components in Jon's writings. If you notice, the Satanism that he follows reflects strongly in his lyric content.

"A Spell was cast and the sky turned red and the Angel's heart froze to ice"

This line can almost sum-up the whole song. The land is desolate, but there's an Angel that's protected by the aura of light. The shadows hold something that is watching, and referring back to his satanic beliefs, a spell was cast. The spell was cast and the spell parazyed this Angel, and as time passed, the angel was covered with the season's burden.

The Angel was so pale. All the roses were frozen because of the Angel's death. To me, the whole song is about the Anti-Cosmic Satanism ruling over the power of Angels. No matter how you want to point it out, the basis of the song revolves around these lines. The next song we'll be looking at is off the same albums, but is entitled:

Elisabeth Bathory (On the album it's Bathori, but her name is actually Bathory):

This is a story about Elisabeth Bathory
Her blood is ourselves...
Clean, Hungarian blood...
Dark castle,
Occult carols sound,
Woman...crying
... Eternally satisfied
Elizabeth did not slept tonight
her gouth ensorcelled through black eyes
The dead girls are courting her
Upon deadly magic circles lines
She pierces needles under ladies’ nails
Their frosted bodies buried alive

Oh how I love to feel your breath
I lust to be the lover of Death
Desires become truths
Evil prayers are heard
By Elisabeth Bathory

The countess of my fire
You 're also her sacrifice
You will give your blood
Because she must have a bath
Welcome my youth, a life before...
More complete then ever... by blood
Oh yes by the blood I was encored
Oh I feel the magic...I fly towards the moon..
Countess it is your night
You haunted by your wild desires
Possessed by bestial lust
You are the goddess of the love

Oh, how I love...

Her mind is insatiable
She craves virgins' blood evermore
Her flames will never die...
Surrounded by infernal glory

Before we start analyzing, we should learn about Elizabeth Bathroy.
When you hear her name you usually think of a beautiful, nice women who was loving and kind. Wrong. Elizabeth Bathory is a landmark in Hungarian history. She is probably the most well-known serial killers in the Hungarian time.

You can imagine that lyrics concerning serial killers are pretty generic, boring, and overall, played out. The song is based upon the murders of Miss. Bathory's victims. She is mostly known for the torture of many young women in her time. The death of these women are almost described well in these songs, and if you put the pieces together, you can almost witness the murders first hand.

"Her mind is insatiable
She craves virgins' blood evermore
Her flames will never die...
Surrounded by infernal glory"

This describes the eternal life of Elizabeth Bathory. Even though she's dead, the idea of this torture will live in Hungarian history.

The last song we'll be looking at is:

Frozen

Far beyond all light
Within the black and the coldest breeze
Caressed by the dark, I had my sleep

Awakened by the moon
Nocturnal life, my powers to be
Keeping myself alive by sucking your mortal's blood...

Frozen winds of immortality
As I drown in obscurity

Still feeling the taste of blood...
It makes me so strong...
I spread my wings...
Into soul winter I fly...

Tears in my eyes turns into fire
As where I belong...
The cold within, it chills my skin,
My heart and soul...
In ecstasy I shred myself
To release what's held within
In solitude I'm having my pride
I, Transylvanian son...

Frozen winds of immortality
as I drown in obscurity

I fall deep into what’s for me unseen
Eternal flames lick my face
In purgatory I’m all within
But I'm forever bound to my frozen soul...

To me, this song is about the immortal life. This man's living a fake life that is surviving on the blood of an immortal. This man can create the body of an organized structured man, but he's not living the actual life of a man.

He flies into Winter on the wings of an immortal soul, but he's surviving on the blood of a dead man whose blood he's drinking. The addiction of the blood is making him live off of a man's immortal blood.

He can live a life of the mortal, but it's always going to be a half-life.

Well, that's it for this issue. Thanks a lot for readin', guys.

Oh, and if anyone wants Storm of The Light's Bane, I can send it to you on AIM. :)

Dude, hahaha. I was talking with someone on AIM about the differences between the food and the killing part. I think I failed! Hahahaha.

At least it shows you're reading it.

There's the Modern Satanic link.

EDIT: Hahaha, I spelt it right like a sentence above, too, haha.

Ah, but didn't you say he was against LaVey and Church of Satan? Because that is what that article is about. Or did you just want me to read what he *didn't* believe in? :p

Haha, yeah. I was trying to distinguish the difference between Modern Satanism and actual Luciferianism. Even though they'll probably sound the same, they're so different from each other. Oh, and not to mention that Lavey's Satanism is based on such modern events that it's not even a philosophy, rather than trying to humiliate Christiananity.

No spelling errors ftw.
