I am going to do an informative speech on the "war on drugs." If anyone has some reliable information or reliable sources they would reccomend, I would really appreciate your posting them.

Discussion is also welcome, but I most likely will not be able to incorporate research into my speech.

War On Drugs = a moral war for upper middle to upper class white suburban Americans which is impossible to win. The people that support wasting money on this war are very likely the same people that support continuing to occupy Iraq and fighting this "War on Terror".

One thing you could work in would be the people who think the war on drugs funds an outerspace program where we currently have planetary bases and research laboratories. Kind of a funny little side note, if you will.

The war started during the Nixon administration, but he failed to put any sort of adequate funding into it. Reagan is the one who blew it up. There's a good video on this that I saw in my Intro to Sociology class last semester. I forget the name but it recalls the bogus claims (which were called truths) about marijuana that were campaigned in this country.

Erik6387; you may be talking about the documentary "grass" it's quite a good film, ive forgotten a whole heap of it, but i watched it at about age 12 or something ridiculous so it's not a suprise. But yeah try and check it out it could help - my local video store had it, yours may too? (i live in Australia, maybe your nation is a little less socially accepting of drugs to have it in video stores? not that australia is by any stretch a drug liberal nation)
