If you're going to be in front of your computer again, feel free to re-live the horror, lest we forget it.

Just look for the icon below the main story. Watching the early minutes has actually been more sobering than the moments of greater terror; the fear and confusion over this apparent 'accident,' all the while knowing the inevitable, unescapable truth of what's going to happen.

who ever said it was an accident?

The early footage. Before the second plane hit, they thought it was an accident. And after the second one, they were still speculating that it could've been a navigational error on both planes.

We watched a movie in Psychology class today about 9/11 and it really hit me. I've seen it so many times but it hit me for some reason. It was this french guy who was recording the whole thing (he was in one fo the towers when it collapsed) and there was another guy videotaping from a few blocks away near one of the firehouses. It was really depressing for me, especially when you keep on hearing these loud thuds which were apparently people who jumped :upset:

I got really pissed off Today at some people talking about how it was all a government conspiracy. And all the "evidence" thay told me was a bunch of bull. If all of this was a government conspiracy than spain and England were in on it too becasue they got attacked also. Frankly, I hate conspiracy theorists with every fiber of my being, especially talking about it on a freaking 9/11 memorial at my college!!

If all of this was a government conspiracy than spain and England were in on it too becasue they got attacked also. That doesn't really make sense at all. Assuming for a second the American government wanted to kill quite a few thousand people, they'd probably want to do something that is plausible so as to raise as little suspicion as possible, so even if the American government did do it the attacks on other countries could still be completely unrelated.
(even though they really really really didn't do it)

It's spectulation of who/what was behind the attacks. It wasn't disrespect towards the people that died on that day. If they had said it was faked, or that everyone that died deserved it then I would be upset. But they're not saying that, so calm down.

The television broadcasts of that day are fascinating. Actually watch those hand in hand with United 93, the best movie of the year (and only good 9/11 movie).

In the scheme of things that have occurred in the world, it's not the worst and it angers me that people forget the others because it involved America. Don't get me wrong, I think that it was awful and that violence has no justification, however we need to keep things in perspective.

Yes tsunami was much worse, katrina was pretty bad also.
And I believe OF COURSE that US government is not all white in that story, that's obvious how Bush is using still nowadays that event and other to fullfill whatever agenda is on his (no, only joking) aides minds!

I would like to quote this for truth.
Why is it so shocking? We're americans's! We can never be hurt! Yeah.....well the idiots thinking that got proved quite wrong.
Call me an arsehole, but I couldn't care about 9/11

Worse stuff have happened in the Middle East and the US supports it. You think they'd relate after 9/11...

I have plenty of perspective. However, i'm not keeping track of how bad atrocities are based on the bodycount.
9/11 was the loss of the West's innocence; our naive childhood beliefs that we were different from the 'lesser' nations of the world in that things like that could never happen here...that we were invincible. It shook us out of our ignorance and apathy, and the consequences of it have changed the world more than anything else that has happened in the last 5 years.
Worse things have happened, but none more important to our culture and the world that our generation is growing up in now, which has been irrevocably shaped by 9/11.

This is exactly what I was told when I was passing by my history class back in highschool. About an hour later, the entire island went apeshit.

I can think of two things worse than 9/11:
The invasion of Afghanistan
The invasion of Iraq

I remember very precisely that on 9/11 last year i made a similar thread, and it got filled for a few pages of nothing but whining about the Iraq war and so forth.
I'm glad that's happened very little this year, but this is still an odd attitude to have. I'm not having a 'compare and contrast world tragedies' session, i'm talking about one particular one that effected the West a lot more personally and deeply than those other two, or any other in recent history.
I know Sudan's bad. I know Indonesia sucks. I know Iraq is a Mongolian cluster**** of despair. And i appreciate how much you all enjoy calling attention to how world-conscious you are, and how i must not be because i choose to recognize this major event with its own thread, while not adding a pretext of "so, it's not as many bodies as Sudan...BUT..."
Seriously. Drop it.

It's all the government as well as media for generating this fear. Also, I'm one of the losers that might believe that 9/11 was the governments work.

Well guess what? Both 9/11 and the Iraqi invasion interelate, so your going to get cross-over opinions in your annual threads. Suck it up.

Well guess what? Both 9/11 and the Iraqi invasion interelate, so your going to get cross-over opinions in your annual threads. Suck it up. Well, of course they interrelate, one caused the other. But, people tend to take their own egotist, wishy-washy idea that they are more aware of the world because they can take their opinion like it's God's word, and inflate another ten times until everyone gets sick of it. People have a right to whine about the war (guilty at one point,) it's their opinion, but it just gets so incredibly blown out of proportion and, for lack of a better word, generic, that people tire of it quickly.
Personally, I think 9/11 was horrible on its own, I almost lost a few family members in New York that day. The media and the government, being the total jokes they are at this point in time, were basically waiting on this with baited breath as an, "I told you so." I only wish they hadn't pounced on it like lions and shown a shred of dignity in the day's passing. I'm definitely not saying 9/11 was "overrated," (which IMO is a pretty dumb way to refer to it,) but it was filled to the brim with hot air which caused us, being the jaded MtV generation, to lose scope on the true meaning of it all.
Five years later, after all that's happened, I'm honestly surprised people still remember what really happened on that day.
Seriously, why would you even think that it would be a conspiracy?
It's terrible what happened, but I don't feel any sadness because I can't comprehend it.

Because it's just foolish. There are so many hints/clues/etc. towards it being a conspiracy that it's an actual plausible explanation. And with a man like George W. Bush in power, a man who everyones starting to think is an idiot, it's easy to see that he could be lying to us.

Yes... I love it. "Bush is an idiot", "Bush is stupid", "Bush is unintelligent and doesnt know what hes doing in the white house"
Yet somehow he managed to mastermind 9/11 and pull the wool over all of americas eyes.... Except of course for these few enlightened conspiracy theorists... aka ... f ucking nutjobs who, I think, has almost no brain activity.

That's the only "coverage" of 9/11 that I can stand.
Yes, it was a terrible thing to happen. Yes, there are terrible things happening all the time. I hate to say it, but 9/11 gets more coverage/contant reference, on the shows I watch atleast, than any other terrible thing, except for the odd Michael Jackson coverage or some other pointless celebrity "scandal".

Someone finally understands.
George Bush is Xenu reincarnated. It's really the only logical answer for this. He is trying to put our souls back into volcanoes, and will do anything to have that done. If that means taking 2,000+ lives, then so be it. Once he conquers the middle east, they well help in his mission to erraticate the world and return the galactic confederact to power under Xenu.
