View Full Version : Review a game in one sentence
I slightly stole this from Destructoid, but that's OK, since they stole it from SA.
The idea of the thread is simple; You review a game you've played recently in one sentence. Say what needs to be said about the game, and cut out all the BS. Try not to make sentences too long either. When I say one sentence, I don't mean a paragraph cut up by commas, colons and dashes.
Here's 2 which I've played recently and thought up pretty much on the spot:
Saint's Row: Blatent GTA rip-off with some of the best features, insanely stereotypical characters and some nice HD graphics to show off too. 8/10 (360)
Dead Rising: The only thing that sets this apart from a video-game zombie-owning Dawn Of The Dead is the crappy AI survivors and toy lightsabers. 9/10 (360)

I agree kinda. I've been playing the game since 1997, y'know, alot of replaying and that, from replaying ALOT I understand it alot more than a few plays would get you, it can be quite hard to follow with all the side stuff, but I've also read ALOT of stuff on the internet that explains some of the shadier stuff, I think I pretty much have a complete understanding of it all now. Definatly one of the best stories I've ever came across, game, book, movie, whatever.

Oblivion is like this veneer of mahogany behind which there is plywood, and morrowind is a tree.

conceded.
I guess i'm trying to say that behind a swanky extorior oblivion has precious little substance, zero replay value and a really lame plot compared to morrowind
The immersion factor was also logarithmically worse in oblivion (axes are blunt weapons! spears don't exist! the most important man in the dark brotherhood is also head of the mages guild, despite having no magic skills whatsoever!)

I like it to, but i played it to death in 100 hours
I must've given double or triple that to morrowind and still not even joined some of the factions or explored some parts of the map
my comments still stand

The game was bulky and sterile. The environments were life-less and the battles when less than engrossing.

lol. my favorite parts of morrowind were missing with melee weapons at point blank range (at low levels) and jumping constantly to boost my acrobat skill.

Madden 2007: Not enough differences from '06 to make it very appealing. 7/10
The Warriors: Very fun, beat 'em up game from rockstar. 9/10
Dragon Quest VIII: Arguably one of the best RPG's to be released. 10/10
Metal Gear Solid 3: Amazing stealth survival style of a game. 9.5/10
Hitman 2: Silent Assasin: Quite possibly the best game to be released in this current generation. Brilliant levels and scenarios. 10/10

sterile?
how do you mean?
The animals and forests of oblivion are nice, yeah. But mushrooms do have something going for them, and at least in morrowind if you stumbled upon a deadric ruin you actually had cause to be scared.

Age of Mythology: An excellent, low-requirement RTS where you might actually learn something. 9/10
Enter The Matrix: Fun, but no melee weapons, no Neo, and far too short. 7/10.
Goldeneye: Rogue Agent: No match for its predecessor, but fun while it lasts. 6/10.
Soul Calibur 2: Awesome. 10.1/10
James Bond: Everything or Nothing: This is what a 007 game should be. (Maybe From Russia With Love is Better, I don't know) 9/10.
Warcraft 3: Decent, but it gets old sometimes. 8/10.
Advent Rising: Excellent music. (I hope to play it someday...)
The Matrix: Path of Neo: If it weren't for the shiny box, I'd be playing Advent. (If it weren't for the DVD-ROM, I'd be playing it.)
Unreal 2004: Really nifty, although a little graphic at times. 8.5/10.
Deus Ex: Perfection. 10^10/10.
