See, that's the thing I've realized over my years of playing. It really doesn't. Sure, they could have a great guitarist and I'd be to ignorant to know it. But I do know for sure that any guitarist could play that stuff inside 2.5 years. Same with the drummer, and DEFINITELY same with the bassist. Singing is more or less a natural thing. Anyways, the point I'm making, is talent doesn't mean ****. Talent is an inborn skill that never really amounts for much. What you're looking for is dedication and perseverence over an extended period of time. Not to mention originality. Their guitarist is probably better than me, but can he play in more than one style? Improvise with ease? Utilize every key and mode to it's extent? Even do anything REMOTELY innovative???? Probably not! And for that, I would not consider talent even a minor factor.

They basically just clean **** up. At the speed his double kicks are going, it'd sound muffled without the triggers. Any sound they emit (if they emit sound, correct me if I'm wrong) has to be received from a pedal hit.

Micing and triggering is common nowadays. You dont have to mic to trigger though.
Different triggers will fire different ways. Trigger boxes are conected directly to the pedal, near the spring tension adjustment. They will not misfire, which is why it is slowly becoming more popular then triggering the bass drum.

Don't even bother, the kid's a dumbass and can't tell the difference between genres.
Through The Eyes Of The Dead and Job For A Cowboy are deathcore now?
Last time I checked, JFAC was borderline-tech death, and TTEOTD was melodic death...

Their insanely tight girl pants, eye-liner and chique haircuts make them look so tough. Especially when they whip out that Billy Blanks Tae Bo at shows.

I dance at shows, it's very sarcastic dancing though, it's like, a ghetto ladder climbing/clawing at the air move.

I'm not judging them by their fans, I just don't think they have the talent to hang with the big boys yet. They're all extremely young, so I'm sure it'll get a lot better.

Job For A Cowboy have one alright song.
They sucked live, they played 5 songs as a headlining band. Plus the entire venue was full of emo kids. *sigh*
Despised Icon are a meh, beatdown band.
TTEOTD aren't in this genre.
Suicide Silence get boring quickly.
The only band that I consider to be decent in this genre is All Shall Perish, but genre nazi's won't count them here.

Despised Icon aren't beatdown, they're quasi-brutal death with the occasional breakdown. Deathcore doesn't technically exist, it's just a label given to death metal bands that "Death heads" aren't comfortable calling death metal.
Breakdowns do not count as a hardcore influence.

Johnny's vocals sound real good, but the only thing really impressive about them are his pig vocals, as they're exhale, which is really hard to do.

I tend to steer them towards Blood Red Throne, Behemoth, or Iniquity, when they talk about, "brutality." I've actually got my friend Matt pretty de-scened.

JFAC is a good band...
Swarm Of The Lotus is pretty good deathcore, if only they had good vocals.
Noonward, it's pretty explanitory, death metal with hardcore influence.
So deathcore kids = 13 year olds pretending to be cool and rebellious??
I think deathcore kids are just like harcore kids. Hardcore kids are pretty much scene kids who listen to hxc (not like minor threat like the music originated from Converge and Botch) and ruin the mosh pits by punching people in the faces if we wanna mosh and your doing your little dance (maybe that's is why they made ddr) you get pissed. Only you guys like death metal. I actually can name about ten 12-15 year old kids in my area that listen to this because I am 14 and skateboard. Talent is being innovative to me.
Also (something wouldn't let me edit so I had to make a new one) I think Hardcore punk should be called hardcore, even though some people do. Hardcore didn't originate from punk therefore it should just be called hardcore some times metalcore. Don't use tech and elodic either. It is dumb. Whatever the band is is what it is and if they put a melodic edge to it that is there own kinda thing. Death core is a stupid way of putting it also. It should be called death metal, I guess. (to some crap). For the record/in other words fu<k sub genres.

Man, i'm just a whore for this stuff lately. I like JFAC. Some of these deathcore kids have some amazing talent, specially the drummers.
Some great deathcore bands (from Cali at least):
As Hope Dies (the original deathcore band imo)
As Blood Runs Black
Embrace the End
All Shall Perish
Animosity (fukin brutal and their still in high school)
Antagony
Antagonist
The funeral Pyre
Winds of Plague
Miseracordiam (Las Vegas - best pig squels I've ever heard)
The Taste of Blood
With Passion
Conducting from the Grave
Suffokate
Hacksaw to the Throat
The Final Burden
Those a just a few that come to mind. I urge everyone to check them out there all great. The new Elysia was kinda dissapointing to me.
