This friday I didn't bring my bass to school, so during jazz i had to use one of the schools fender jazz basses. I found the feeling when playing slap was so much more comfortable and it was alot easier to play. I was wondering how to get the same sort of feel on my bass. I have a pretty low action, does that make a difference? Would getting a new bridge make a difference?......Any suggestions would be helpful.

What kind of bass do you have atm? Fender Jazzes have pretty slim necks, which could make for an easier play.

I have an Ibanez SR1300. It has a slimmer neck than the Jazz.

String gauge could have something to do with it? Also maybe the neck you are using is too thin? Maybe it has too tight string spacing for your tastes.

String spacing and action, check that on the Ibanez and then compare with the Jazz.

Jazzes just feel nice to slap on.

It could also have to do with the tension of the strings i find that to make a huge diferance in feel

i'd guess it's the string gague. get some lighter ones (i use the lightest i can find), it will make slap easier.

you need to be more specific than 'it felt good' you need ot tell us why it felt good

It had a very bouncy and responsive feeling. Mine isn't quite as bouncy or responsive. I'd describe mine as being flat. Also it took quite a bit less force to get a good slap sound on the jazz.

It sounds like a string thing, maybe try lighter(I think) strings?

Light guage strings are the ones typically used by slappers. So yes, get lights.
