Compressor?

I can't even hear the bass.

Might need to turn the bass up a bit. He only plays one or two notes, theres not really a bass line, but I can hear them clearly.

How do you know any effect is being used? Compressions does not have a blatant enough change on tone that you could pick it out of a song like that one.

Because it doesnt sound like a regular bass. Its choppy, and I like the sound. If its not a compressor, what is it?

Choppy sound could come from a tremelo, but i turned up the bass all i could it just sounds like bass through a overdriven tube amp but thats just me.
