One word: timing. In a situation like that you will probably not be playing music that is extremely technical. The most important thing to work on is getting furiously in time. I would also work on is endurance.

yeah lock yourself away with a metronome
I would also work on is endurance.
Pretty much. Don't complain out loud that your blisters are killing you. Keep playing and build up those calluses. Unless of course if you play with a pick...

I agree with the timing part.

I didn't practise much, I just improvise all the tryouts, like they play some of their material and give me the keys etc. and I improvise a bassline for it.
But look at the genre and how the basslines are formed (Listen to the music) thats about all you need to do, know how to do basslines for that genre.

shouldn't you be practicing with a metronome instead of posting?

If you can, record yourself.

I tried out for a band a couple of months ago(my current band). They just threw songs at me left and right and saw what i could do with them. So, expect that. They might just show you all of their **** at you and see what you can do with it in one night.
