I guess they're not particularly well liked around here, but anyway, the new Norma Jean album is up on their myspace for streaming. I'm really liking it.

Norma Jean defiently hails as one of my favorite bands. I listened to a few songs off the new album, and it seems like they lightened up a bit...

I think most of the Norma Jean hate comes from the whole hxc scene, which is pretty ****ing stupid. I don't act the part in the slightest, yet I still enjoy most of the scene music.

I haven't laughed openly at very many live acts, but Norma Jean was one of them. They seriously cracked me up because they were so terrible.

Gladly :p . I have met a bunch of scene kids (naturally, playing shows and whatnot) and they always ask me if I ever listen to Norma Jean. Norma Jean is one of those bands that you immediately turn off once you pop it in the CD player...it's just...noise. Not music.

But meh, that's all the slamming I'll do in this thread, I'll give it back to the kiddies.

I sat through 7 hours of pure crap on the second stage at Ozzfest this year so I could see Ozzy up close. Through all that crap, including bands like Atreyu, Bleeding Through, Between the Buried and Me and the The Red Chord, Norma Jean was by far the worst band on the bill. And that's saying something, because, I mean, Bleeding Through played. And I can't believe Rob Flynn sang with them. Whatever happened to his Vio-lence days? But one of their guitars was stolen and broken right in front of me, it was sick.

I disagree, I think they're great. I can understand him perfectly. Now coming from a kid who thinks Norma Jean is a good band, you complaining about a singer is a little strange, especially when you say you can't understand the lyrics. Obviously that isn't an issue for you in liking music...I'll take a cat being dismembered over the douche that sings for them.

Alliteration. I think a lot of them, especially pre Wylde are pretty good. Plus early Sabbath with Ozzy destroys everything. Dio is not better than Ozzy, the Dio years with Sabbath were terrible.

Heaven and Hell beats out any of the **** they did with Ozzy. Ozzy was useless, added nothing out mediocre vocals. He was 99% image.

Ah, but first he was known for his vocals. Just because millions know about him from the Ozbournes doesn't mean just as many if not more knew about him for his songs before that. I like Dio, he's just not nearly as good as Ozzy was in Sabbath. No chemistry.

Trivium I could definitely see, especially when the one guy goes on his ridiculous "I want to see a circle pit! You guys need to be moshing or else I'll be reminded of my small dick!" rants. Lamb of God are a great live band but, like on CD, they get really boring after a while for me because they're so repetitive. It's like they're really good at writing ONE song but unfortunately not a whole lot else...

Meh, but this is about Norma Jean.

Honestly, its a really bad thing that the band had the forward and skip button disabled on their myspace.

I heard 30 seconds into their first song and it just turned me off so much. mind you, im quite into the NWOAHM and metalcore thing.

and the fact that the buttons are disabled doesnt help either...

I don't know where all this hate for Norma Jean is coming from. I can understand taste and that plenty of people aren't into their kind of music, but that doesn't make them bad. So far all of their albums have been solid (albeit Bless the Martyr the best), well-played, and very well-produced to top it off.

I like their new album. I listened to it, and really got into it. I think its a lot better than Oh God, the aftermath.

Most of the original line up of Norma Jean left the band after Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child. Essentially, they got a new bassist, and yes, the vocalist was replaced as well.
