well, i hooked my head up today and it doesn't seem to be working right. whenever i play a semi-hard note, it distorts. i know it isn't the bass or cabinet. this is a gallien-krueger 700RB.when i turn the gain or bass volume down, it distorts less, but it is still there if i play hard. anybody have any clue what might be causing this:confused:

turn the boost down

done that, but this is a bad distortion, not gentle overdrive.

sounds like a warantee issue. They're pretty good about getting them in and out.

i don't believe it's under warranty anymore. i got it second hand, and its at least a few years old. i'll take it by a guitar shop in a bit, hopefully it's not as bad as i think it is:(

Try a different lead? Check the batery in the bass? Volume on the bass?

It sounds like a gain issue since theres more distortion with more gain/bass.

May sound stupid, but did you check to make sure the plug is in your bass all the way? I've had that happen, and I get a pretty distorted sound if it's not in all the way.

i tried all that, and i played through my combo head and everything was fine. i am 98% sure that it is inside the head itself. i could be doing something retarded, but i doubt it. double check, everything is stil fine, same results with the head.

thanks for the replies, though
