So I have heard a few rock/metal instrumentals, and I love them, but I just don't know where to look for more. I love Call Of Ktulu and stuff like that.
So what are some good instrumental songs/bands that I should check out?

Pelican is incredible.
EITS is very nice chill music as well.
Agalloch's instrumentals are simple jaw-dropping. They tell equally brilliant stories when compared to Haughm's singing. THAT is when you know you have a great instrumental song; when you don't need vocals to paint the mental picture that you want the listener to see.

In Flames has sweet instrumentals - Acoustic Piece (from the 1994 Demo), Timeless, The Jester's Dance, The Acoustic Medley, Whoracle, and Pallar Andres Visa, etc.
Opeth too - Patterns In The Ivy, Silhouette, Requiem, Madrigal, Epilogue, For Absent Friends, etc.
Darkest Hour - Pathos and Ethos
At The Gates - Into The Dead Sky
The Black Dahlia Murder has cool metal instrumentals, and one really good acoustic one - All My Best Friends Are Bullets, Unhallowed, Built For Sin
Underoath has pretty cool short ambient tracks - 814 Steps Today, The Blue Note, Smctague
Ulver's instrumental work is exceptionally unique and good, Everett is kind of similar, but they're got their own touch

I haven't heard Shakti...what's it like? Any recommendations on it?
hehe let me upload some
it is the most beautiful music in the world to my ears
Sweet, I'll look forward to it.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/rpgrcb
face to face is a short form tune by shakti
very simple in structure and tonality but incredibly expressive
pay special attention to the percussion; zakir is an absolute GOD
http://www.sendspace.com/file/5r6cib
here is a slightly longer tune with a bit more complex structure; again the almost telepathic interplay between soloist and percussionist is something of a treat :-D
I ought to show this to my friend who plays tablas...not sure if that's what that is, but he'd appreciate it regardless because he's into that kind of ethnic percussion.
I have to say, I'm really impressed with McLaughlin's playing is far more expressive than I've ever heard from him. Usually I get kind of a dettached, technical feeling from him.

Same, at least with Mahavishnu orchestra stuff. I'm looking forward to hearing these songs.

if he plays tablas then he will love this stuff; zakir is so revered in indian classical and fusion circles that i can't really think of a western equivalent musician hero
zakir is in top form in shakti and in an almost transcendant state in remember shakti (i'll upload some in a bit)
