ooo...I got a BIG suprise...

Ive just picked up 3 New Basses... Ones a 5 string, Ones a 5 string fretless... and Ones a 6 string... boutique-esque bass...

I want to see if anyone can geuss what they are...
(Easy one first)
The fretted 5s name is considered by some to be incorrect... the comapny that made my fretted 5, worked in unison with the company that made my fretless and made a new version in 1984 and called it the cutlass

The fretless has something to do... with something that replaced lead...
it came with EMG-DC pups ... and "even tho its fretless... i'll never have to adjust...."

the 6 string... has something to do with a man named waylon...
(not a real hint but... the Bodies Tiger Maple, Necks Pao, Neck is also maple... it came with this companies own select pickups, and this companies own strings...

both arent your typical basses... you are more likely to find them Both over Talkbass.. rather then mx... infact i only know of one person who uses either brand... and they arent the same brand... mand im really bad this game

I know that MusicMan made a Cutlass I and II, and, since you said this company worked in unison with the company that made your fretless, I would assume that your fretless is an Ernie Ball MusicMan Stingray 5 with the fretless neck option. I know that they come with two pickups now...err...you can purchase them like that, but I don't think they come with EMG-DC pickups. o_O

I'm probably way off base here.

I think the first two are a EBMM SR5 (actually more similar to the Sterling than Stingray, in electronics and sound) and a Modulus, quantum maybe, not sure on the models that came with EMG-DC but I think some of em did.

the next is a modulus Quantum Fretless 5 (modulus helped make the Cutlass... which i believe was a stingray with just a graphite neck...)

the next is a Ken Smith, BSR6MW Murdoks correct.... got do i hate it tho... its big, heavy and just plain uncomfortable... the lack of Dots on the fretboard bothers me... i know they are on the side... but i actually need them... im not afraid to admit its kicking my ***... plus as far as getting the tone i like... its Poop... beautiful tho...

1600 for the Mod
1600 for the KS

I got it from a guy who gave me lessons way back when... i went for the mod, and he let me take the smith for free... and if i like it... ill pay him for it next thursday...

im thinking of buying it and changing the electronics... the main problem is the Mid and Treble are the same knob, so i can dial in a midrangey sound on the bass ive got to **** with my Amp.

Ive ordered a Sans Amp DI, but i dont mess with the knobs on my amp... ive got them where i want ive been able to dial in with all my basses... im gonna see if he'll wait for the DI to come in before i can pay or maybe get it back later.

the bass is deceptivley heavy.... especially when compared to the modulus which may weigh like a quarter pound... its light as hell... prob the lightest bass i own...

and out of all of them the Stingrays my favorite... the fretless has made its mark tho... but nothings killing the stingray... its deadly...
