hes the one guitarist that showed me shred was pointless and that i should just play with the groove

Shred's not pointless but ok. Knopfler's a pretty good guitarist but a downright awful vocalist.

I like his vocals on Money For Nothing, actually.

And as Douglas Adams says, "Mark Knopfler has a an extraordinary ability to make a Schecter Custom Stratocaster sing and hoot like angels on a Saturday night, exhausted from being good all week and needing a stiff beer..."

No, he's an amazing guitarist, and a credible vocalist that couldn't suit the music better
Telegraph Road, Sultans of Swing, Romeo and Juliet rank up there with all the usual classics

Money For Nothing on the On The Night: Live record is exceptional. So is Heavy Fuel.

I've only heard "Sultans of Swing" and "Money for Nothing."

I quite like "Sultans", not so big on "MfN."

I remember when I bought communique from the local independant record store, the lady (who I knew) went "more old man music for you?"

haha, they were one of the bands that opened me up to more classic rock.

Also, I think mark is an awesome guitarplayer and a decent singer.

Dude...Knopfler (aside from having a cool dorky last name) is a terrific guitarist and "Sultans of Swing"....you don't get songs that cool anymore.

PinkFreud

Was that a question? I really, REALLY dislike his voice. He has close to no range and it STILL sounds like he's straining to hit notes.

I was talking about his voice, actually. Like I said, he's a good guitarist.
