View Full Version : Should I keep my 5 or sell it?

Alrighty so basically I'm looking to get a Yamaha TRB1006. Right now I have a Yamaha RBX375. The question is, should I bother keeping the 5 string? I've yet to actually play the TRB yet but from what I hear it's extremely versitile so would there be any point in keeping my 5 for barely any difference in tone?

Plus if I sell the RBX then that's just a bit more money to put towards the TRB. So what do you think? Worth keeping the 5 or should I just make a sacrifice for the greater goal?

Only reason I'd keep it is if it held sentimental value, or if you need another bass to have in a different tuning. Otherwise - sell it.

Only sentimental value it has is the first bass I bought.

I do have another bass, 'tis a 4 string that has a really beautiful slap tone. Made from 2 different basses. I got it for nothing. :D Anyway, aye I'm fine without it and I guess it would be extremely pointless having a 4, 5 and 6 string unless they were all extremely different. As far as I can tell, the TRB has all that the RBX can offer and so much more.

Thanks for the fast response:) Of course, whenever I manage to get the TRB I'll post pics of it in all it's sexy glory.

Since I'm probably going to buy two other MXicans' basses from here, might as well sell the 5er to me for $122.43 (all of my money in my hand).

if you are in a hurry to get money, you could go ahead and sell it. but it's never bad to have an extra bass lying around.

i'd offer you $122.45 for it

I'm not exactly in a hurry. The sooner the better obviously but it can wait. I'll prolly be looking to get the new one around christmas timeish.

Whoa...122.45. Things are getting serious now.

Haha. Chances are I'll be selling it in a few months. It'll be sad to see it go. I love it. But I'll be getting a new shiny TRB in it's place so I'm sure I'll get over it:D

When you do go to sell it, look my way. I'm on the lookout for a new 5-string, and I just may offer to take it off your hands.

Awesome. Only thing is I live in Scotland. So getting it to you may be a bit of a pain.

Brown to the ground.

haha, you wanna know something, about 50% of the time I'm mistaken for a chink. I'm one those chink natives. My guitarist;s father saw me after a gig and he said "is that guy asian?" and my guitarist said "no" and then the father said "damn, that would've been so awesome!"
