Hello!

I don't really know where else to post this, since this is the only forum I visit on here.

I'd like some feedback on my band's dub reggae song, and also the recording quality. The song was recorded in my brother and I's basement studio. We used Audix drum/instrument mics, a Shure SM-57, an Apex large diapragm condenser mic, and an Apex tube condenser mic. The Mics ran into a Behringer 16-channel mixer, which was connected to the computer by a M-Audio Audiophile USB interface. The recording program was Cool Edit Pro.

Recorded completely live, and completely improvised as well. It's also seven minutes long.

Don't mind the screw ups (a few off key notes by me, and some timing mistakes). The lights were off so I couldn't really see what I was playing.

Oh and our 'studio' is all in one room, and theres no soundproofing, separate control room, etc.

Thanks!:thumb:

Sounds pretty good. Other than the screw-ups that you already mentioned, the song's great. Personally though, I maybe would have added some variation into the bass riff, as it got kind of monotonous. The recording quality is also good.

allso adding strange electronic noises and samples would make it a bit more varied, or if you wana stay more old school steel drums!

Yeah I'd like to have had some other stuff in there, like organ, and more reverb too. Maybe I'll put in some cool stuff later, with my synth, and we might be adding the horn players in a little.

Oh and I dunno if you got that far, but at 5 minutes I switched it up to Exodus, and then a little after 6 minutes switched to Get Up Stand Up.

Thanks!

love dub reggae. good stuff, i think it would be cool to put some more lines in there that have more attack, not nessesarily more treble, but play a little harder just a tad bit though. but it really sounds pretty good.

uhh... its ok...i dont feel any soul or groove. listen to some steel pulse for some more inspiration, and the bass isn't BOOM BOOM BOOMy enough for my liking. keep at it.

maybe you have to be there to feel the groove. Cause when we were actually playing, it was grooving to hell and all the way back.

And I think I get what you mean about the BOOMing. But my amp sucks, and its hard to get a tone like that without exploding the speaker or the mixer preamps.
