there, i said it.

of course they're good.

theyre just not THAT good.

frankly, i think his voice gets a little annoying after a while

but they made excellent music, especially for when they were around.

am i the only one who think they might be a little bit over rated around here?

what reminded me of it was seeing them mentioned in the new order thread

I prefer Joy Division, but New Order have some good tunes.

I think they had a lot to live up to stepping out of the proverbial shadow of Joy Division, and I think they lived up to it.

i dont see why they had to be compared to joy division (and i prefer new order anyway, but thats a different matter)

thanks for stating the obvious perrwinkle
well if you agree then say so but you dont have to say it like that, cuz they are super-glorified sometimes on these forums

They are compared to New Order because they are basically the same band, sans Ian Curtis.

1000 walruses could sing for a 1000 years and they wouldn't add up to how horrific Ian Curtis' moaning is.

This is a band that actually lives up to all the hype.

End of story.

I hate it when people don't like a band, but concede that they made 'excellent music.'

I'm just sayin.

I like Unknown Pleasures, which has a lot less of the warbled caterwaul featured on Closer.

they have some classic songs and then lots of poor quality ones. unknown pleasures is a classic album imo based on hannets production alone. it sounds so cold and desolate. i see joy division as a jewel in the post-punk crown and love the part they played in the factory records/manchester scene. it fascinates me no end. so feel free to call them overrated. bleurghh.

OMG.

Haha, I guess it's fair to say that, as I don't think they really were round long enough to show people what they could have done. Though they did release a lot in their short lived career.
