ok so my basement has this room which is just kinda used as storage. It's got my electric kit down there and Ive been thinking to bring down my acoustic kit to create this monster. Since the basement celing is kinda low compared to my room (which is upstars) would the sound of my drums change?
Would it be cool to combine the two kit or should I keep them seprate?

Mega kits are pretty cool, but the ceiling will confine the sound more, so it will be loud. Great way to practice dynamics though. If your too loud your ears will hurt, so you'll learn to play really quiet.
It really wouldnt matter, Cause you can always just move'em back up if you dont like it.
Give it a try.

Do it man. Just make sure the e.kit isnt so sensitve that whenever you play the acoustic drums the electrics go off.

Do a hybrid: Cymbals, electric kit.

The sound will change, so be ready to re-tune, but deffentally do it. Or, if you have the room, moving the e-kit upstairs. I just think having all of your drum stuff in one room would be best really, even if it isn't a monster kit.

er, your room has 11' ceilings?
Um, dude, that's insane, thats like a vaulted ceiling.

Not if its an older house, then its pretty standard for downstairs.
id say just give it a shot. worse case would be you dont like it adn just move it back the way it was. nothing wrong with experimenting every now and then.

Wait aren't most ceilings like 10'?
But off the subject of house framing.........I would definatly do it. Sounds cool and stuff. May be loud as already stated. But eh, who cares?

define older.
My old house was built in the 40s, and it had 8' ceilings.
FLW standardized house measurements, and this was like in the late 1800s. Not many houses from that era are around, to be honest.

I think you should go fer it. IMO you should have most of the electric kit on sounds you wouldn't find on a drum kit. So you have so much more unique things. Do it, then pics.

I wouldnt, there wouldn't be much point in having the electric kit if your gonna use it with the acoustic.
What will you play at night when theyre both mingled?

Set your kit up like you used to with all the rack toms and then put in the electric portion.
PLEASE. IF NOT JUST FOR A LITTLE WHILE!

You don't use ear protection???
Just, like, put your electric kit directly behind your acoustic, and then if someone bitches about the noise and wants you to stop, just spin around and play the e-kit. You'll show them up while getting to keep playing at the same time. There's no way you can lose.
