Pete and Carl have reunited to do a track on a Joe Strummer tribute album. Both of them are singing on a Clash song but i dont know which one. I guess its one step closer to The Libs reuniting:)

You know you could have saved yourself the effort and titled this thread: To No One.

Whilst this appears cool, you do realise that they didn;t actually work on the song together. They actually just both recorded vocals for it, on completely seperate occasions. so I don't really think this means anything.

Hmmm, I tend to just ignore press these days, I kinda miss out on most of the hype these kinda bands get.

I'd rather have the Libertines back, than have Dirty Pretty Things and Babyshambles continue.

i hope the libertines dont re-unite, at least under the libertines name. the thing is they recorded two era-defining albums, they brought back indie to the mainstream, along with the strokes, the vines et al. and i dont think they can live up to that again, it's a case of moving on.

did you know that the libertines are completely unknown in the united states? nobody gave a **** about them in the world's most influential market; i think you are overestimating their contribution to music.

The US doesn't know how to appreciate talentless The Clash rip-offs. Shameful.

I think you'd better check those sales figures for Green Day albums more closely!

Am not really sure about this to be honest. Although if it wasn't for The Libertines I probablly wouldn't be as passionate for music as I'am. I just can't see why this will work. Everything Doherty's released in the last two years has been just piles of unlistenable self indulgent Druggie-Pop (It's a new genre! Pitchfork will all over it next year). It's also a cover of a Clash song (very original boys!) for god sake. Yeah, I know they helped pave the way for bands such as Franz, Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party, Razorlight (!) and every other British Indie band who's hit it big in the past five years blah blah but the only way he's ever gonna return to his peak is if he kicks the drugs which might be . . . .um, I don't know 2027 by the looks of things.

This is almost as bad as James Blunt covering Dylan.

Pete's only liked The Clash for a few years, they could have got some proper fans at least.

Well if it's to support Strummerville at least the money will go to a good cause . . . as well as Doherty's dealer

Doherty aint going to see any money from it. Thats the idea of a charity record

Despends how much of the profits will go towards the charity. Not that Doherty need the money when he's charging people £20 to go see Babyshambles on their next tour. I wouldn't even accept a free ticket to go see that band, not after last year when they played Leeds Cockpit. Terrible, terrible gig
