I looked around and did not see one of these and I figure there's got to be more than a couple of us that play High School American Football. So use this thread to discuss, ask questions and trade tips.

Our third game of the season is tomorrow night. Our first conference game, and it is a big one. Apparently they have this running back that just runs straight over people instead of going east and west.

We're not in the national top 50, again. And Don Bosco is ranked 33rd. They're our biggest rivals, easily. They got Matt Simms (son of Phil Simms, so hes got the name), the guys going to the NFL, Chris Simms went there, and hes on Tampa Bay. They were the only loss we had last year. Going for 8 straight state titles. We got the record with 7 last year.

While I play adult football in the UK, I'm sure our quality of football is about equal, perhaps a bit harder on the body than yours. In the UK though, hardly anyone passes the ball unless they feel they have to. My teams basic D is a 4-4. I'm a cornerback :)

Im sure that you guys would win based on the fact that you are all grown men.

However, we are also not American. I have had to cover American receivers (from the USAF), and there's no way in hell I've played against a Brit who's as good. Fact is, you're brought up on the game. I didn't argue over who'd win, but I reckon the quality of play would be about the same, with some exceptions.
There's a few Brits in NFL practice squads, and while that may mean nothing to Americans, there's only about 30 teams in this country, and perhaps only about 5-6 are of any real quality. My team's in division 2, where all the new teams start.
And I'd think your high school LBs can hit harder than me, adult or not.

Yeah that is true, I know first hand that Athletes do not equal good football players. Last year my team had by far the best athletes in the conference, but we only won 1 conference game because all the other teams new how to play the game of football.
There are football players that run track and pump iron, then there are body builders and track stars who play football. We had a bunch of the body builders and track stars that just put on football pads.
I bet if all the best players in the NFL just switched to RUGBY USA would have the best team though.

FSN is regionalized. Each region's showing it's own game.
As far as my HS team is concerned, we're ranked #6 in our division, we're undefeated (only 2-0 though), and we just upset the #1 division team 45-21. We're a historically good team though (public school, no recruiting like private schools can). We haven't had a losing record or failed to make playoffs in 36 years.

Heh, I didn't know.
We got out butt's kicked last night. Union lost to Hoover 34-07. We've lost our 57 home game winning streak. :'(

We won 21-13! It was a pretty sweet game. We won our JV game in double overtime too, it was a pretty sick game for JV :)

I just the high school football preview in Sports Illustrated the other day.
Interesting enough, but I dont know if I like high school sports getting so much national recognition. Its high school for christ's sake. The kids have more important stuff to worry about than being watched by millions of people.
I just dont really agree with it, thats all.
my local school played Valosta, Georgia and Kicked their ***. Jordan (Sandy, Utah) was the team. my other local team, Alta, (also in Sandy) has to play Rainier Beach (Washington) at Husky stadium this weal. Northridge(another team from utah) plays somebody from california this week

St. Joe's (Montvale) kicked off the season at Giants Stadium vs. Poly Prep, won 30-7. Wayne Drummond (our RB) 3 TDs 174 yards.
And if any of you were watching ESPNU on friday Don Bosco vs. St. Joseph (philly). It pisses me off, theyre nationally televised. (Get to see some of the teams we play)

That would be kind of hard considering they're filled with inbreeds isn't it? I've lived in Texas and played JV ball there and yeah they were good but nothing compared to my Junior year in Georgia and even Here in Ontario the team is probably better.

I've played 2 years of high school ball in Ontario. I always assumed it was a joke compared to high school football in the states.

State teams are better, but it's not exactly a joke. I exagurated the Ontario team being better to be honest, but I think they could hould their own against teams from the states. Now the best teams in the states can probably clean the floor with the best of Ontario mind you, but the average teams are pretty much on par.

Real Football is in Texas. Whether it be high school, college or pro.
