There is a lack of discussion on this band in these forums. I am currently listening to I Am A Bird Now, and it is a fantastic album. Rufus Wainwright, Devendra Banhart, Lou Reed, and Boy George all appear on this record.

Discuss Antony and the Johnsons.

Terrific album. I'd love to hear some of these songs performed live. It's so personal and emotive.

Second-best album of 2005. The debut isn't as good, but there's some excellent stuff on that one as well.

Based on this album, I think I'll get the debut.

The debut is more theatrical/'bigger'-sounding than IAABN (then again IAABN is one of the smallest/loneliest albums I've ever heard). Take that as you will; it's really the only comparison I can think of.

Yeah, I Am a Bird Now is a real quality album. Close to my favourite of last year too. I've been meaning to give it another spin recently, having not listened to it for ages.

I haven't heard much, but they're pretty fantastic.

I heard them do a cover of If It Be Your Will by Leonard Cohen at a tribute concert, jaw-droppingly emotional.

I Am A Bird Now was definitely one of the best albums of last year. Probably the only thing that beats it is Alligator.

I saw him live at the beginning of the year. It was really quite amazing.

Yeh, definately an amazing album and his live show in Sydney was fantastic.

He features on Coco Rosie's album, which is also quite entertaining. They supported him on the Aus tour.

CocoRosie are probably the only band I will ever see where their live show includes animated videos of horses having anal sex.

I like it. I haven't heard it enough though. I got a chance to see them live but I don't want to pay 50$ for it.

I've seen him live on a couple of TV shows and he's mind blowing. I Am A Bird Now was definitely in my top 5 of 2005.

I'm a bird now is such a fantastic album, Antony's voice is angelic even.
at first I didn't quite understood the fuzz about this album but after repeated listens it was in my top 2005 for sure.

I ordered their debut yesterday, hopefully it's great also :)

He's alright. Not something I put on every day. Or really any day. I can't remember the last time I listened to this. But I do recall thinking that "Fistfull of Love" was a pretty fantastic song. I should probably give this another spin with these new ears of mine.
