I guess it's pretty self-explanitory. I was just wondering about mf's views on that quirky Brit-Pop band known as Blur. What are your guys's favorite albums of theirs/what are your general thoughts on the band? As for me, I think they're a nice breath of fresh air from the stuff you normally hear today in the American South (Yes, I know they're not new, and I also know that they were huge in Britain, but please remember my locale). I also see Graham Coxon as one of the most underrated guitarists/songwriters of the 1990's. Anyhow, feel free to discuss the band here if you wish.

Also, I just ordered Modern Life Is Rubbish, Parklife, and Blur from Amazon today, and I'm pretty stoked. No more will I have to go to Barnes and Noble to listen to the thirty-second clips of half of the albums. More to follow on Wednesday when I actually receive them...

Song 2.

13 is an absolute masterpiece. I like every song on that album. Also, I picked up Art School Rocks In Feedback Frenzy! (live, Brixton Academy, 11.12.97), which is pretty damn nice as well.

I still need to grab the self titled.

Okay, maybe somebody can clear something up for me. What is the relation between Blur and the Gorillaz?

edit: speaking of Blur, where the hell is Morrissey >:-O

XD

I definitely like Blur, for most of 2004-2005 they were one of my favourite bands. I still love them but the only album that really blows me away is Parklife. They have a solid catalogue and good singles, but Parklife stands head and shoulers above their other work and is up there with the best albums of the 90s.

Blur in North America is completely different from Blur in England however, from what I understand they are legends over there, but here they are just a one-hit wonder (Song 2). It's hard to find anyone who's heard a single song off Parklife or any album beside Blur. :(

I need to get Parklife.

In my review for their greatest hits album, I told the story about how I heard a live radio show they did where I thought they were absolutely horrible. In a Barnes and Noble, I tried the greatest hits album because "Crazy Beat" had been receiving a lot of airplay. Nothing else on Think Tank impressed me on the samples, but I bought the hits album right there. I'm really looking forward to Wednesday when I get my mail.

And it does annoy me that the only song you hear in the States is "Song 2." It's alright and all, but they have a ton of better things.

Yes, I think they are awesome.

I like the lack of attention in 13, but I prefer the quirkier side of them, Like Coffee and TV (in the album 13, a strange track for the overall album feeling) or Boys and Girls, Beetlebum...

Yeah they are awesome.

I like Oasis, but I think Blur was more varied and original.

And the samples I heard from 13 were good, but for some reason, it was a lot more expensive on Amazon than the three I bought.

This Charming Man is a really cool song.

I don't really listen to Blur as much as I perhaps should.

I like Blur, but not too much. As far as I can tell (through hearing singles and owning a couple of albums) they're a lot more consistent than a whole lot of other popular bands, and still manage to change around what they're doing, which is good. I've never been compelled by the albums I do have (Parklife and 13 - Lord bless HMV sales) to rush out and buy their others though, despite several great songs.

I recently got into Blur because I heard Paul simonon (The Clash) was in a new band with Damon albarn. I listened to some tracks online and I realy like them. So far I've Got Parklife, and Modern Life is Rubbish. Both Great Albums.

I like the singles they released and one cd my friend let me borrow, 'Modern Life is Rubbish' I think it was.

I have Graham Coxons solo cd. It has about 4 good songs with a whole lot of filler, to me.

I like Modern Life Is Rubbish the best of the three I have. And I actually think Blur is kind of overrated to be honest. I was disappointed with it.

The Good, the Bad and the Queen. I don't think that there's anything available by them for listening to at the moment though (EDIT: although I seem to be wrong, judging by Lobotomy's post).

Sepstrup-Yeah, I'd get that first, if for no other reason than because it was my first Blur album and it got me into them. Most of their '90s albums are good starting points though.

They don't have any recordings available yet, but their first single is coming out October 30th, and an album on January 30th 2007.

So I bought The Great Escape on Saturday. I see it as another great investment of eleven dollars.

Where is TGTBATQ available? I'll probably just wait until the 22nd to purchase it if I can around here. You never know if you can find decent music in Athens, though...

And I started the thread, dei.

i don't know lol
