they should'nt have changed it, it's too complicated. Plus, for people with dial up internet, it's practically useless.

the band that i focus on the most is the suckerpunch thompsons, we were used to be a ska/punk but we haven't done ska much anymore but the stuff we have up is our first demo which is ska/punk - www.myspace.com/thesuckerpunchthompsons
www.purevolume.com/suckerpunchthompsons

this is the band i drum for, the singer isn't the greatest and the best song we have on here, the vocals were way too loud, but if you listen past the first verse i gaurantee satisfaction. We are a punk/rock/indie band - Eric and the Generics
www.myspace.com/ericandthegenerics
www.purevolume.com/ericandthegenerics

last is stuff i recorded by myself which is lighter stuff, more for a different crowd. i did a 7 song cd for this girl i knew, and here's three songs on it, thanx -

what i did was i had a freind who learned to play drums when i started bringing my guitar to school. i taught a bassist and had a freind do vocals for a while until we broke up. then i found out one of my old friends who learned guitar along side me and found out he was into punk so i started another band. he had a freind who played bass and i had a freind who could drum and it all went uphill from there. you just need to find some good freinds who like punk and help them along i they don't know how to play. dont worry, it all comes together in the end.

I was in a band like that last year, I'm the bassist, and the singer and I were the only ones who actually wanted to play some music. I quit that band seeing as we were going to play at a party and our drummer claimed to have broken his drum set and the guitar player, she just wanted to hang out with her boyfriend the whole time so she didn't bring her guitar. It messed up the gig for all of us so I quit and it was a good idea. But now I can't find another band. I've been jamming with a few guys and we might start a new band that actually plays. So the point of all this is just quit if nothing's happening.

you see wat i mean if you wanted to make music and smoke up but if all you were doing is that then it just does not seem too worth it.

i am not just going to quit, but i am gonna try to get stuff done with the rest of them . me and the drummer were working on som stuff today and we are gonna show it to them on sunday and decide what to do from there. besides i wanna play in this battle of the bands in March or April and can find know other way considering the bassist goes to the school that we want to compete at. The second guitarist is out of high school and has a job through the week and is impossible to get a hold of when you need him.

The local punk outfit here always ask "Who likes Nirvana!?" in a really enthusiastic voice. Of course there's always people who say yes. Then they tell them that this is going to be a Nirvana cover. They start playing Smells Like Teen Spirit and about 15 seconds in they break into their song. People have left before after that.

Pretty good, but not great. We played a weird set. Like, we got a pretty good response, but we didn't have the same energy as usual.

Neil from TLA actually approached me after the show, and said he liked us, he wanted our EP. So i guess it wasnt too bad, just not the best.

TLA however, played a pretty damn cool show.

I made a ska song and played it with these two other guys. We have lyrics but no one's actually singing yet, seeing as how we've only practiced once. We might do it again if he buys us donuts again.

^^^^^
Viable. Sustainable. Humane.'s pretty good, I like the one guitar riff. if you put a little more of that in, maybe even with the singing, it'd be good. i like it 'cause it's a little different, but it stops too suddenly, and i miss it before it' over.

Gun Powder's pretty sweet, i usually don't like changing tempos, but you made it work. The whole bridge/guitar solo type deal is awesome, but raising the bass on this track would be good, especially on the verses. almost make it like ska, but down-beat. Wouldn't that be interesting.

G8 is cool, those first three chords of the 4 chord prog. are the same as a heatskores song i think... but you go back to the I on the fouth one, they go somewhere else. anyway, i like this song, but, especially the vocals, but, it's too empty. you need a bassline with more notes, or yes, horns. Say if they did what the bass was doing, and the bass played a fast bassline, tha'd be sweet. also i don;t like the muted power chords... sorry. although i like the rest of the ending.

Teeb
04-16-2006, 06:25 AM
Thanks Man. The bass will definitely be raised on Gun Powder, and I'd like the guitar through both speakers too. Everything seems to be coming louder through the left speaker, hopefully we can get that fixed when it's mixed. I think G8 sounds empty too. The guitar only really comes through the right speaker, and I'm thinking that has something to do with it. I like the bassline because of the slapped octaves, but the lack of other notes does leave an empty feeling. As for any changes to the actual parts, I'll take them into consideration for the future, but we're done recording for now.

Anything involving group chants is now Street Punk, unless it's obviously HxC.

Or Ska, or Oi!?
That wasn't funny.

If the band dresses up like Pirates then they'd be Pirate Punk.

I wasn't meant to be funny, it is a serious rule you moron.

If a band dresses up like gangsta does that make them a gangsta punk band?

My Band is called Milo and it's based in Iserlohn, Germany. We're a four-piece melodic punkrock band. Obviously influenced by the Descendents and tons of others. We've been around since 2004 and have a demo out. Our first full-length is going to be recorded in fall.
If you want to check us out go to http://www.myspace.com/miloiserlohn
You can find a little song snippet and a live video there!
Thanks!

I think maybe afew of you are getting pirate punk confused with piratecore. We are pirate punk where scurvy is piratecore. We also have more pirate songs, its just we don't have those songs recorded well. Also, you don't have to dress up like pirates to be pirate punk. Even though we do a good part of the time.

The Pirate Punx is an old, old crew that pratically lives at the Gilman in Berkeley. Not a genre.

I saw that on myspace once. But the name of the genre is pirate punk, not pirate punx. Punk is a genre, and there are groups of punks.

Well, the tags all over Gilman's walls say "Punx", so that's what I put.

Thankyou! We'll have some more songs on the old myspace soon, we've got our recording back all mastered now......it sounds lovely!! And our split is going to be released in the UK and US. And we'll be recording again by the end of the month because Jerk Off Records want to put one of our songs on a compilation CD in the US. So we may as well make a day of it and record our next split!! Haha!!

haha, thanks man. Your band's really good too. The Pizzeria one should work, but the first one needs to be worked on. I'll put up In My Eyes as soon as I get it from my friend who taped it.
