View Full Version : ROTM August Nominations

August seemed to pick up the slack that July left behind in regards to review submissions, but nevertheless we shall persevere and embark on yet another ego-stroking, newsletter-filling, kudos-giving Reviewer of the Month contest.

Here are the rules, read them carefully or I'll eat your dreams at night.

- Nominate anyone who has reviewed three or more albums during the month of July. You can nominate as many people as you like, but no self-noms.

(The target range is July 24 - August 24)

- Write a sentence or two supporting your nominations and link to three of your nominees' best reviews that you feel exemplify their nomination.

- Winner will receive a large avatar (about 100x100) and some e-fellating in the newsletter.

- Journals, soundoffs and lists do not count toward review total.

The nomination process is only going to last until Monday night because there's no reason why people need five days to decide. Then the voting thread will pop up at that point sometime (or on Tuesday), and the voting will close on Thursday at around 23:59:59.

Good luck and etc.

I would like to nominate a regular ROTM contender- Iluvatar. He came back in August after a slight break and unleashed all fury upon Sputnik, releasing 5 reviews in one day at one point.

I nominate ShadowsFallen. He wasn't active too much a few months ago, but recently has made a comeback. As usual, his reviews are informative and helpful.

I guess I'll be first to nominate that crazy kid FlawedPerfection. He reviews from a broad spectrum and does it very very well. All though he won last month for his awesome barrage of indie, post-rock and jazz fury this month is just as good. Nice job Mr. Fisher

I'll nominate Metallicaman8. He makes good, short, and informative reviews from a variety of genres and continues to improve. Oh and he stoped making a bunch of concept reviews.

I can't link cause my address thing is screwed up but i'll name his reviews. Sorry

Guns N' Roses- Ill Your Illusion 1
Fleetwood Mac- Rumours
Rage Against The Machine- Regegades

If someone could link em for me it would be appreciated sorry.

What? Haha, no worries.
You said that you weren't going to be around because of your excessive partying and novel writing, so I figured I might as well run the show this time around.

My 100kg can be quite a bit to step on one's toes, so I try not to :)

PS: look out for something soon (hopefully I catch you before you leave again)

Somebody nominate me. Seriously, I don't deserve to win but I want people to read my reviews before they vote for someone else.

Spat Out because I was gonna nominate him, anyway. I just forgot and nominated that Damrod character instead. He tries really hard with the english, that one.

I really enjoyed Spat Outs Elvis review and Buckcherry as well. I think the Elvis one is best of the month contender, period. He really helped you understand where it came from. And that Buckcherry fellow can be a tough review. I didn't read the third, but at a brief glance I can see it's tops:

Oh., and JXD (yes, that is a third person reference) wrote 5 reviews and three were features. Feel free to check 'em out. I (first person reference) would at least like to be in the running if I am good enough and deserving enough lolz....

...how else am I to "earn" my big Who avatar if not given a chance :(

lol

oh, and everyone give that Format album a try. it's nice.....

Hep Kat. Gotta keep the guy on the boil. His Suade review was great (jolly old England, lol)and his Pillows review was a real good read. Very fair and balanced reviews overall:

Patrick. Who used to be someone else but I forget who. Patrick wrote twelve reviews during the qualifying period and is everything a sputnik reviewer should be, IMO. He tries hard, he keeps it clean, and he puts care into his work. His reviews are easy to read as you will see below. Most of all he is continually improving and as you can see from his Everclear review he has enthusiasm for writing reviews and it shows. I like that and enjoyed that review very much. "A" for effort and improvement across the board. And his review of Fleetwood Macs Greatest Hits is a very easy read. No small feat for a reviewer to accomplish:

As much as I enjoy a good ol' Plath review, there were only two of them in August.

^yes, yes. true enough. not quite staff writer quota of seven or eight. I didn't quite make the mark with 5, either. although i have one coming today and could have finished one yesterday. in any case three is all that is required for consideration. i checked you out but saw only one. too bad. i like your stuff :).

i will. sort of weird the end of the month reviews. they may very well get overlooked if one doesn't pay close attention to the guidelines.
