Okay okay okay. Here's the deal I'm making a mix CD for me and my friends. The title is called "Bitches Who Think They Can Sing, Vol. 1" now I have a Volume 2 already because I wanted to be hip and start backwards or something so I'm running out of songs to use the title says it so far it mostly consists of Britney, Shakira, J. Lo, Faith Hill, Celine Dion, Janet Jackson and the likes and I'd like some more recommendations so if any one has any songs I'd love to have some ideas outside of my trian of thought.
Synopsis:
Recommendations for songs with female vocals that are new(ish) and aren't Tori Amos or Fiona Apple... etc.

i'm just doing this so I can remember stuff
Natalie Imbruglia - Torn
Jennifer Love Hewitt - BareNaked
Michelle Branch - Everywhere
Vanessa Carlton - A Thousand Miles
Christina Aguilera - Dirrty
Pink - Don't Let Me Get Me
Brandy - Full Moon
TLC - No Scrubs
Mya, Pink, Lil' Kim, Chirstina Aguilera - Lady Marmalade
Spice Girls - Wannabe
Mariah Carey - Loverboy
Girls Aloud - Sound of the Underground, No Good Advice
Kylie Minogue - Love At First Site, Can't Get You Outta My Head
Shakira - Hips Don't Lie
Janet Jackson - Doesn't Really Matter, All Nite (Don't Stop)
uh i forgot how sex that last song is.
Willa Ford - I Wanna Be Bad
Mandy Moore - Crush
Donna Lewis - I Love You Always Forever
Meredith Brooks - Bitch

Are you looking for good female singers, or just good songs sung by girls?

From the first category:

Sinead O'Connor - Mandinka, Nothing Compares 2 U
The Cranberries - Linger
Christina Aguilera - Genie in a Bottle, Beautiful, Ain't No Other Man
Jessica Simpson - Public Affair (vocals suck but song is so damn catchy)
Kelly Clarkson - everything

second category:
Toxic, Oops, Hit me baby and basically every other Britney song but Email My Heart and Dear Diary
every Spice Girls song
Atomic Kitten - Eternal Flame
All Saints - whatever singles they had, I'm sure they were all good
Girls Aloud - anything
Natasha Bedingfield - not really into her but Unwritten and These Words
Pussycat Dolls - Buttons and all the other crap
Paris Hilton - Stars are Blind
every pop song of the 90s

I don't know it's hard to come up with random females on the spot

Sinead O'Connor is the best female singer ever.

Anything off Blondie's Parallel Lines is great too. 'Hanging on the Telephone'

Chantal Kreviaszuk has a great voice but she's Canadian so nyeah

Chrystina Lloreé has an amazing voice too

Sinead O'Connor is the best female singer ever.

you mean dusty or celine. the only best female thing sinead wins is best boring or something.... uh...

I'm looking for songs by female (pop) vocalists that are generally shunned for being bad or lame MTV pop or forgotten 90's female's. Eden's Crush and Dream are my newest additions.
I don't know it's hard to come up with random females on the spot
I totally forgot about Spice Girls, the Simpsons and Christina.
And I'll have to check out the rest of those people because a few of them I have never heard before.

Jac Most of the ones you haven't heard are probably the British ones like All Saints and Girls Aloud, trust me they're awesome if you're into pop which you are.

Willa Ford - I Wanna Be Bad
Some girl - Crush
Donna Lewis (?) - the one that goes "I love you always forever near and far blah blah together"
Meredith Brooks - Bitch (surely some other people will vouch for this)
Destiny's Child, Ashanti, Ciara, Mariah etc.

What about that Sixpence None the Richer group?
Or are you talking about strictly solo artists?

Reason why I ask is because I said Natalie Merchant, and then somebody brought up 10,000 Maniacs.

So, yeah.

Ya I listened to that one song you said fo All Saints it was good pop but I needed pop with attitude or faster, like Girls Aloud who I think are wonderful so far.
I'm using Mandy Moore's "Crush" because thats the only one I could think of and I always that "Bitch" was by Alanis Morissette, I could've sworn it was.

I already got most of their hit songs (two of them?) I'm down for groups too. Anything that is good ninties pop/rock/pop rock/hxc deathcore.

....yeah -- i agree, people are basically getting sick of the same old rock/hip-hop/r&b bullsh*t..... and there is just this big upsurge from a new style coming out of Europe -- best place i've found it so far is a compilation series called 'euro club hits' on itunes -- or check this link: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZSearch.woa/wa/advancedSearchResults?albumTerm=Euro+Club+Hits+Vol +
