Thats cos your country has a cheap imitation of it. The rest of the world calls it Football.

The last thing we need here is the "'football' vs. 'soccer'" debate

which is really the dumbest thing anyone could argue about. ever.

Minus The Flair
08-24-2006, 03:58 PM
Yeh, it's crazy someone would argue over the obvious fact that no-one hardly puts their foot to a ball in your 'football', and yet real football must be called soccer.

/argument.

Football is the most exciting to watch, but it is too ferocious and primeval. Golf and baseball are both fundamentally better.

Is golf even really a sport?

More like a hobby.... like whittling wood or collecting stamps. About as exciting too.

I voted for hockey.

I like golf, and am not saying it is easy, but you don't need to be an athlete to be a good golfer.

Televised golf, other than majors, isn't terribly exciting, but I was making a point that it was better to play than watch. Have you ever played golf? That is a pretty cliche opinion you've got there.

Hockey is a distant first, but soccer is definitely growing on me. I like to play most of the sports there (though I can't say I've ever boxed, played cricket or driven nascar), but as for watching/following sports, just those two.

Ok ya, it is better to play than watch. But it still isnt all that terribly fun to play. Maybe thats because I'm awful at it.

Mini-golf on the other hand...

Football - the orginal. If all the main football authorities and associations call it football, you cannot argue.

In my native language, calcio; or how all you happy Brits/Aussies call it, football. American football is pretty fun too though, but nowhere near calcio.

It's a pretty weird word compared to football, which makes complete sense in context to the sport. Personally I think we should've stuck with the same name and called American football "soccer."

Blah I couldn't imagine that even though it makes more sense.
