What are the Ultimate Indie Artists, new and old?

The Great Decay

Franz Ferdinand

La Revolucion

No, the ultimate indie band is that one that never started. They were so indie that they were too lazy to actually make music, and therefore became legendary.

Anyway, I guess you could put Guided By Voices on the founders of indie list, if not the "ultimate" one.

Pavement, Pixies, Dinosaur Jr.

If we're talking about who founded indie, that is.

I meant both founders and new artists, so yes.

The Killers > The Bravery.

I guess the Velvet Underground get no love here.

They should. They started independant music, and without punk rock, the concept of independant music might never have been realized.

The Velvet Underground would be nothing without The Killers.

For new indie there's the Red House Painters. And countless other bands I'm too tired to name.

I don't see why we don't make a stickied list of alt/indie bands so all of these threads stop.

I take it you do this in an effort to exemplify the absolute absurdity of fanboism regarding the overwhelming amount of love for this band?

I mean, considering The Killers came out like.. a few years ago. And they are like.. a pop band.

I'm confused now.

I was kidding, The Killers blow.

how un-indie would it be to have all our favorite bands stickied at the top of the forum?

I'm pretty sure he said The Killers because Eliminator said The Bravery, who are almost exact copies of The Killers except not as good.

EDIT: Alright nevermind.

Oh ok..

I assumed as much.

You're right, having the same threads pop up every other day is obviously better.

La Revolucion

Well maybe someone should take it upon themselves to create a massive list of every alt/indie band.

The Great Decay
08-23-2006, 03:13 PM
Not every band, just the essential ones. The same bands get mentioned in every one of these threads.

La Revolucion

Sounds like a good idea to me.

And me, I only posted this thread because I'm quite new to indie and wanted to know some good bands.

To the threadstarter:

That has a decent list of some indie bands.
