I think the line up's a little weak this year tbh. Although it would be funny to see Slayer play on the same stage as Belle And Sebastian

I've just started packing, should be fun, last year was the best weekend i'd had in ages.

The lineup is pretty weak, but its not all about the music and there's enough bands I like to keep me happy, as I don't think i'll end up seeing anyway. Dance tents for the win.

I was under the impression the line-up would be better than that.

With that said, I'd probably go for Muse and The Twilight Singers alone, if I'd actually gotten tickets.

I have only heard "Not Wearing Purple." A friend of mine was playing the Warped compilation. Is the rest of his stuff similar? polka-ish ska punk-ish?

sketchyjoe
08-23-2006, 07:02 PM
It's gypsy-punk.

And the song's called Start Wearing Purple.

rocknrollstar5
08-23-2006, 10:46 PM

Hmm, I wasn't particuarly impressed by Dirty Pretty Things to be honest. The Vines however, did a great job. My best bands were;

Muse
Pearl Jam
Gogol Bordello
The Streets
Dizzee Rascal
Dresden Dolls
Mastodon
Bedouin Soundclash

Slayer bored me a bit to be honest. It was quite a cool thing to see, as I wouldn't get a chance outside the festival, but I found them kinda boring on the whole. Even so, their position behind MCR is still criminal.

I was only there for Saturday but i enjoyed what i watched
my best bands were:
Jet
Dirty Pretty Things
Arctic Monkeys

I thaught Arctic Monkeys were poor.

I was 3rd row from the front at leeds, i wanted to be there for muse, and it was hell, we all got crushed and nearly died.

What i saw of the band they were realy average, no stage presence at all.

Thats my opinion anyway.

Kyle

Yeah, they barely even spoke...he's far from an exciting frontman. I quite enjoyed dancing along to their set from a distance, but there was no way I was getting in there to be crush by 14 year olds.

Muse and The Streets were so good on the saturday. Mike Skinners crowd interaction was excelllent.

For Me:

2manydjs > Muse > Millencolin

Pearl Jam were disappointing for me :(

The Arctic Monkeys were bad from what I saw of them.

Even so, their position behind MCR is still criminal
This is true. Despite the fact that their material is repetitive, I thought they put on a pretty good show. They looked so very old though.

The Get low thing was cool, cept from it was a bit cramped at the front, he was telling us to get lower but i was already ontop of about 6 people.

Cant fault muse, played a great set. Im biased though.

Pearl Jam were disappointing for me :(
why was this?
I'm a huge PJ fan and thought they were just stunning.
Wait were you at leeds?

I was pretty impressed they handled the crowd pretty well, and i even saw metal heads who were throwing **** singing along by the end of the set :-/
Although it was a pretty poor hail of bottles in terms of bottling, which i suppose is a good thing.

Kyle
08-28-2006, 05:42 PM
I thought he was talking about Slayer, not MCR, but I might wrong. but the comment about them looking old seemed to suggest that.

PAJJ
08-28-2006, 05:50 PM
Yeah you're right, i should stop watching tv while posting, but apocalypse now is on, still thought MCR did a good job, as in terms of what i thought was going to happen/what people said was going to happen, still **** music though.

The only reason they were in my top 3 was because i like their music but yeah at Reading they were below par for what i expected of them

How are 2ManyDJ's live? I'll be seeing them next month.

i agree with what everyone seems to be saying about the arctic monkeys, their sound in all fairness was spot on and sounded exactly like the album but they just stand there looking like ****ing statues, maybe it was the size of the event, i've seen them at club sized venues and they seem better.

and also that panic at the disco guy getting hit by the bottle, dint know whether to laugh or not. i mean i hate them but all credit to the bloke for getting up and playing on and sounded in all fairness pretty good.

I'm not a massive Pearl Jam fan, but I do like them a fair bit. I just thought they were going to be an aful lot better than they were. I mean, Eddie Vedder and Matt Cameron were spot on. The band just seemed to draw songs out for too long in too similar a vein for me.

And I was at Leeds.

fair enough, apparently they didn't play as great a set a leeds, not too sure why, but they were stunning at reading.
