I've got a few hundred extra dollars lying around and I've been thinking about installing a whammy bar on my Cort A4. I've got a Fretless Warwick Corvette incoming from an ebay auction (got it for 600$) and the Cort has a rather bright tone that would benefit from a whammy.

I'm completely in the dark on this one. Where can I get this done, where can I get the parts, and how much is this going to run me?

Yeah... I don't trust myself to do such in depth routing. I'm gonna check the local luthier shop, but is there anywhere I can send it if not that?

It'd rather not experiment on my main bass, if I messed it up I'd be pissed.

Well, anyone that has a drill press or router can do it, as long as you give them the template and instructions. The kahler requires less routing, and has better stability (and looks better imo).

go for the kahler.

when i was considering a whammy bar for one of my basses (actually, i still sort of am, but now a different bass) i did some research and i found that the kahler is the better of the two. apparently, on the hipshot one, you can only lower (i think) the pitch, but the kahler goes both ways. plus, you need to do far less routing on the kahler.

What British Kid said, the Kahler is such a better option, even if it is more expensive.

Go that route

I don't know about forward or rear rollers... it's been on this bass since I've owned it.

It's an original Kahler as well, not one of the new ones, if that helps. I'm at work as well, so I don't have any more pics of it.

Here's another pic, you can barely catch the trem though.

What's the tone difference between forward and rear facing tremolos?

none, it just depends on your bass and how much space you have between the line of intonation and the bottom of your bass.
