A month and a half after I ordered it, this sucker finally showed up today.
I've been screwing around with it for the past couple of hours, but haven't delved into the tome that is the manual yet. I can get the basics going, but I know there's a ton more stuff that I can't even figure out right now. I don't have any recordings yet, either, just because I don't want to embarass myself at the moment (more so than usual, that is).

And since I got a good deal on it, I decided I'd spend a bit more money, and picked up one of these.

Yes, that is a cassette you see. It came with it, lawl. The E-bow took me a while to get down, since it's made for guitar and all, but it's certainly very usable on bass. The tight string-spacing of my Ibanez makes it extremely hard (if not impossible) to use the E, A, D, or G strings, but the C and B work fine and that covers everything I really need it for, anyway.
Yeah, so discuss my sweet-*** looper + E-bow.

Haha, oh yes. :) Steve's music is what originally interested me in a looper. Now I just need a fretless. :upset:

Phil, did you find any problems using it on any of the inside strings on your Yammies? I know they have larger string spacing than my Ibanez does.

Not without sounding retarded. I'll let Wikipedia speak for me.
The EBow or ebow (brand name or E-bow, for "Electronic bow" or Energy Bow)[1] is a hand-held, battery-powered electronic device for playing the electric guitar. Instead of having the strings hit by the fingers or a pick, they are moved by the electromagnetic field created by the device, producing a sound reminiscent of using a bow on the strings.
The E-bow is used to produce a variety of sounds not usually playable on an electric guitar. By varying the E-bow's linear position on the string, the player can produce different string overtones, and also fade in and out by lowering and raising the E-Bow.

Wow.
That sounds cool.
What do they go for?
And it's definately useable on bass you say?

Bastard. That just further spurs my decision to get a Yamaha for a fretless.

Hi again guys.
I paid $150 (CAN) for mine, taxes in. And, yeah, it's definitely usable. It takes a bit of work and some slightly unusual placements, but it definitely works.

Very nice my man. Once I get myself out of debt I may well invest in both. I tried an Ebow on my fretless when in london, was awesome. Works best with the neck pick up I find.

Hmm.
bit much for me at the moment as it would be on a bit of a whim as I doubt I'd use it too constructively.

Yeah, I've found that too.
The guys at the store love me now. Haha. When I go to buy a fretless, they're gonna knock a few hundred off of it for me.

Fretless Yamaha?
The loop-station looks sweet, plus the ebow thing looks rather interesting.

I misread, I though he said Yamaha or a fretless, so I suggested a fretless Yamaha.
I'm a fool.

Good call Ben - the RC-50 looks like a lot of fun... and once you get the hang of that, you can start saving for a Looperlative... ;)
I'm sure the Ebow will work on the inner strings on your bass with a little practice - what's the string spacing on it?
Good luck!

I have no idea what the string spacing is. I just know that it's smaller than average. I might very well be able to fit the Ebow in there, but right now I lack the manual dexterity to do it. :p
Yeah... you and your Looperlative. Maybe I'll start a fund for that after I get fretless. :amaze: Thanks, though. :)

I'm pretty sure the spacing on the SR506 is 16.5mm.

You are 100% correct. If it works on a guitar, it should work on the spacing.

I've heard mixed reviews about the looper, I'm happy with my RC-20, it gets the job done and keeps me dependant on others to play with. It's easy to get caught up with the looper, the music always sounds better with other musicians. Too much of one person is repetitive and narrow in a creative sense.
