This thread can be used to help people with school work (by help I mean exactly that and not just give them the answer). You can ask how to do a math question, or just have someone look over something you've done.
I'll start it off with this:
I'm supposed to write a short, three paragraph essay no more than 3-5 sentences about anything concerning music for my World Lit 11 Class. Strange that it's only 3-5 sentences, after all I'm in 11th grade. :-\
Anyway, tell me what you think. I'm not that good with grammar and the teacher this year is big on grammar.
Short Essay on Youth Group (Topic: Music)
Youth Group is an Alternative/Indie band from Australia. To me they are one of the greatest bands ever and the best overall for their genre of music. The group is composed of three main members, a singer and guitarist, bassist, and finally the drummer. So far Youth Group has released two albums in the United States with the latest release being titled “Skeleton Jar”; they also have a third album out in other countries and soon to be released in the states.
What makes Youth Group such an epic band is, well, everything! The vocals flow in an eloquent fashion, are exceptionally catchy, and portray somewhat of an echo. The guitar parts are mostly single-note riffs that give off a dissonant, detached feeling, which is one of the multiple things that attract me to the band. The bass’ parts underlie the music for the most part, but play a major role in the music by helping every song feel consistent, as well as fluent. The drum work is fairly simple, yet the parts are structured brilliantly.
What Youth Group is, is basically easy listening at its finest. Their material is strong, and never subsides. Certain moments are epic and also inspiring, such as the entire song “Skeleton Jar”, which is a song about ‘not letting life pass you by’. In short, Youth Group is an amazing band and one of my personal favorites.

Because they 'own' parts. That's the best way I can explain it. :-\

Not strange at all.

I don't give a damn about whether this is giving you the answer or not. I had to fix all the idiocy in that because you obviously suck at writing :p
I rephrased a lot of stuff, too.

Well it was fairly good grammar and if your teach is a grammar stiff I think you'll be fine. I made some edits though (in the quote), you don't have to use them but I think it flows better. :thumb:

I don't want to sound like a dick or anything, but I highlighted some of the parts that are probably going to get you placed in remedial English.

convoluted
The group is composed of three main members: a vocalist/guitarist, bassist, as well as a drummer.
waste of a setence, you can tie in this minor fact with a larger idea
So far, Youth Group have released two albums in the United States the latest of those being 2005's “Skeleton Jar." A third album is also available outside of the U.S.
ok
What makes Youth Group such an incredible band is, well, everything!
argh no. putting your own voice is essential to writing good papers but you have to be careful not to come off as unprofessional or too personal.
The vocals flow in an eloquent fashion, are exceptionally catchy, and portray somewhat of an echo.
and? what does that do for their over all sound
The guitar parts are mostly single-note riffs that give off a dissonant, detached feeling, which is one of the multiple things that attracts me to the band. wordy but not too bad
The bass parts underlie the music for the most part, but play a major role in the music by helping every song feel consistent, as well as fluent. The drum work is fairly simple, yet the parts are structured brilliantly.
Try and connect the instruments instead of giving a series of generally unrelated sentences
Youth Group are basically easy listening at its finest.
eh, nothing really pointed to this before. try and connect your points
Their material is strong, and never subsides.
never subsides in terms of what? volume? aggression?
Certain moments are epic and also inspiring, such as the entire song “Skeleton Jar”, which is about ‘not letting life pass you by’.
Eh go ahead and leave out the meaning of the song, it doesn't really have anything to do with why you like the band, unless you want to make another paragraph on how their lyrics apply to your life or something.
In short, Youth Group are an amazing band, and I wouldn't quite be the person I am without having heard them.
how's that? nothing mentioned above sounded like life-chaning material... if you're going to make claims like that back them up, though at the end of a report your going to have to make it very concise and to the point, would be very good to connect the points that you made through the rest of the report
probably overly anal this report wouldn't be graded bad in the american public school system.

Well like I said it's not as if you would get like a D or anything but if you really wanted to get a good mark there are lots of minor edits you can do to boost your score

I remember when I did Lit I had to read shiz like The Scarlet Letter, A Handmaid's Tale, and metaphysical poetry etc., like actual english literature.

Okay, but she wants it to be personal and not really be trying to prove anything, but just shortly explain why I like it.
And:
In short, Youth Group are an amazing band, and I wouldn't quite be the person I am without having heard them.

I scheduled AP American Lit. and AP American History for my junior year. For English, I had to read and annotate The Scarlet Letter. It's easily been the most horrendous English assignment I've ever faced.

The Scarlet Letter wasn't too bad.

It'd be better if I didn't have to "extensively annotate" it.
