I think DOD is an amazing cd, and they havent lost their touch. The melodies are very well written, and IMO this cd has some of their most powerful songs yet. My fav has to be Rainmaker or Dance Of Death, and I can listen to the whole cd without skipping a track. Awesome guitar work on here too, they havent "evolved" with nu metal(no Im not ripping on it, Im saying they still do leads).

Big thumbs up for me. :thumb:

PS: I duno the setlist, only playing 2 shows in the states :( but I went to Give Me 'Ed til Im Dead tour, amazing ****.

Man, everyone ripping off the Death Heads fourm and making these "official" threads...  anyways, what can I say? Iron Maiden is, IMO, the DEFINITIVE metal band. Really. I still have yet to see any band do the guitar harmonizing thing better and you just can't step to Harris's basslines. Maiden rules, period.

And I REALLY need to see one of their shows before I die...

Paul Di'Anno was the old singer, or even maybe the Blaze Bailey era.

Question: If I want the best of Di'Anno era Maiden, do I buy Killers or Iron Maiden ?

Iron Maiden is better in my opinion. Songs like Phantom of the Opera, Remember Tomorrow, Transylvania, Sanctuary and (of course) Iron Maiden make the album a classic. Although Killers does have a fair few gems of it's own :D

First of all, Maiden ****ing rule!! I'm currently listenign to powerslave and playing along to it. I just ahd Killers on aswell a fine piece of classic Paul D'ianno Iron Maiden. For the people looking for the "best" Iron Maiden album there isn't really one out there. they are all works of art. Powerslave or Number of the Beast is probably the ebst way to go for someone who's just getting into them. Brave New World is also an exellent choice. one more thing if anyone knows the solo to where eagles dare please post a tab or something because I'm having difficulty trying to figure it out.i don't know why though it isn't overlly difficult.

Iron Maiden.. amazing band. Steve Harris goes up there as one of the best bassists ever. They are one of the bands that has an incredible amount of amazing songs, so you can never decide which CD to buy by them since each one is amazing as hell. There was a period where I disliked some of their songs, but I found they redeemed themselves with Brave New World, and Dance of Death is an amazing CD. Out of the 3 most popular classic metal bands (Sabbath, Priest and Maiden) I love Maiden the most.

my favourite band for years, no metal band comes close for me. everyone in the band is amazing at what they do, especially bruce, adrian and dave. and they are still going as strong as they were 25yrs ago, still only making songs they want to, and still managing to the completely change the sound of each album, while still keeping that maiden sound in every one. dance of death has got to be one of the best albums of this year, even for just paschendale and dance and death
and they wont be giving up any time soon, and why should they? they are one of the greatest metal bands in history, and have got where they are today despite being totally ignored by the media. theyve got at least 5yrs left in them

going to see them in 2 weeks at the NEC, last UK date.

dont know if anyone has posted the setlist, but some of the songs are: wildest dreams, paschendale, dance of death, can i play with madness, journeyman, lord of the flies, and a few others off DoD (about 6 in total), and some more i cant remember.

ahhhhhh yeah Iron Maiden was one hell of a gig(december 1st point depot Dublin) It was fan-tastic im now a bigger fan of iron maiden than i was weeks ago. I don't want to ruin it for anybody so i'll only say that i thought paschendale live was excellent. do they make them noises at the start with their instruments? I think they do... And even though theres a lot of anti-english idiots in ireland (get over it already) not many people got pissed when bruce waved around the union jack- mebbe he should have also waved a tri-colour....or does the union jack include ireland? ah it doesnt matter the fact is that they were class absoloutly brilliant bruce sounded perfect- they may be 50+ but they sure as hell can do a good running jump... all in all it was the best gig ever now im gonna learn me some iron maiden....lets see...ah yes the trooper... also ages before the concert i got their new album thought it was mediocre but now it is excellent. Stupid cover though...if it was just eddie then it would be alright.....i'm waiting.... in my cold cell...when the bell begins to chime....guess what i'm listening to;)

Saw them last night. I'll try not to give to much away.

Funeral.. are a decent live band. Not a band I would buy a CD from, and they're songs sound the same, they don't elaborate on them much, but they are tight, good, solid performance. Nothing special, but not a complete waste of time.

But seriously, that was probably the best ****ing night of my life. Paschendale IS awesome live (what the hell did Janick do though?) and the show is amazing.

Send me the setlist on no1biggav@hotmail.com because there were a couple of songs I didn't recognise.

Yeah good ol' Paschendale-what he did i do not know....well in dublin funeral for a friend got a cool reception, with a chorus of "YOU SUCK" and such. I dunno they seemed to play one huge song it all sounded the same. I didnt boo them or nothin like that they were acceptable. The lead singer(who seemed to suffer from frequent and violent spasms) admitted that we were all there to see maiden- i believe it was sold out before they were confirmed as supporting- and his constant swinging and catching of the mic got much sneering from the lads....that reminds me, MAIDEN WERE SAVAGE!

Firstly I am maidens biggest fan in the world i have all the albums except the 6 cd collection (eddies archive) but i am getting that for christmas so that oughta complete the collection. I have got all the dvds also and i got visions of the beast and dance of death before the came out in cd stores (became friends with the manager). If you ever want to listen to or buy a great maiden album i suggest you listen to/buy somwhere in time...it has fantastic solos and really has the band giving it there all...i could also say this about fear of the dark...it is very melodic and shows a different side to maiden. but the greatest song of course afraid to shoot strangers i suggest everyone gives this a listen at some point..it has a fantastic melody and also has its share of metal.

Iron Maiden is a great cd, i like it alot more than killers (sorry, personal preference) phantom of the opera, transylvania, sanctuary, iron maiden...those are just some of their best songs they ever wrote. Powerslave is a monster and a half. aces high, los'fer words, flash of the blade, powerslave....again, more of their greatest tunes. Ive had both albums for about 4 years and still listen to them very often, you'll get years of enjoyment out of them!!!! but i still like Somewhere in time better :) lol

I've not listened to IM all the way through, but from what I've heard its more straight up rock than their other stuff. Less deep, songwriting not as strong (IMO) but more raw energy.

From Powerslave.... I bought it for the first 2, knowing them both. After listening to them & Losfer, I thought, its worth it for these 3 alone. I feel it dips a bit in the middle, but the last 2 are awesome, as is the Back in the Village intro.

S'not fair, I've got 5 cds in 2 days, I just can't listen to them all.

I went to that tour, at Download Festival, best festival of 2003 in britain.

The master shall answer all:

BNW isn't based on the book
The wicker man is partially based on the movie
Wont be playing in rock in rio 4 (85% certainty)
Ace's High = High notes = strain on bruces voice
Montségur='Arry didn't want to play it.

exept that that their bassist was with mercyful fate before, and that he looks like aragon, i wouldnt say that arch enemy are that good.... but deamn, i want sharlee D'angelo's hair... thats heavy.... and hes nmot an bad bassist to... but when i saw them in norway earlier this year, they could have choosen another band, the norwegian maidenfans wasnt too happy with them....
