This reminds me of that scene in Spinal Tap "Actually, a lot of people spontaneously combust every year, you just don't hear about them." I wish I had this British chanel he'l be on. If they show it in the US, I'll watch.

Maiden are #3 over here. A very strong 3 behind Tool and Opeth... don't start flaming me again :upset:
I was just kidding, i like priest, obviously not as much as maiden, but they're still great, better the metal of today anyway.
Maiden are #1 for me, #2 is jeff buckley after that well depends on my mood.
Maiden are #1 for me.
#2 is between Megadeth, Iced Earth and Dragonforce.
Maiden are #1 for me. In #2 I could put Metallica, Megadeth and Helloween.
Rattlehead

what are Helloween like?
Its kinda hard for me to explain.. like old school power metal, slower than new power metal like dragonforce, but still fast. Search for I Want Out and Eagle Fly Free. Those songs are my 2 favorites.

I think maiden will always be hovering about the number 1 spot for me, even though a listen to other bands a lot more. ie. Sikth, Opeth, Pantera, At the Gates, Dragonforce etc.

I've always got at least 1 maiden album on heavy rotation atm it's SSoaSS, for the past to days i've just sat down and listened to it without doing anything else, and it's really rare i do that, and it's made more excited (if that was possible) about the new album apparently being more proggy.

You should definately enter, that would be such an awesome thing to win:)

EDIT: "What you have to do to enter :-
Select your all-time top 3 Maiden tracks, and then write a concise and evocative paragraph on each one describing each song and expressing why you chose it.
As we do not know where the winner will be coming from, the winner is responsible for the cost of any travel, hotels etc. You will be expected to make your own way to London and must be available for the full day of Friday 23th June. So please make sure this fits your calendar before entering. You will be met by Laz the Fan Club Manager in or near to London and he will drive you to a secret location to hear FOUR tracks from the album, and then meet and interview Nicko and Janick. We will also take photos of you with Nicko and Janick which will be published on the Iron Maiden website and in the magazine to accompany your interview!"

i prefer the # of the beast to hallowed by thy name.
i never was completely hooked to HBTN as much as NOTB or run to the hills. great song nonetheless
Number Of The Beast is the one I've always liked the least out of the three you've mentioned. But it's still frickin amazing. HBTN slays NOTB.

recent examination of the oldest known part of the old testamend reveals that the number of the beast is actually 616

I've been saying that for ages nobady seems to listen though, wasn't it due to a mis translation, or something?

Haha..Lets face it, 666 > 616.
We all know it's impossible for Maiden to be wrong about anything.
I'll go with it can't be wrong because maiden can't be wrong, but christians would be the last to admit that the bible had a mistake in it,
Well, the contradictions in it are all there for a reason. You have to have it both ways!
666 is wayyyy cooler.

Only about 1/3 of the gig is on Early Days, if you notice small things, you'll notice the lighting in places is off and the sound in places is really quite dodgy.
That's why they never released (or re-released) it.
Its a very enjoyable gig. I just wish i could see all the stuff that wasn't on the Early Days DVD:(

Wrathchild is pretty easy, and a hell of a fun song to play as well. Very...blusey, almost, in parts.
Run to the hills, doesn't really get much easier for maiden.
Could try Children of the damned, Rainmaker, or No More lies, they're all pretty easy.
Or slightly harder (minus the solos) i'd say Paschendale.

wrathchilds all about the bass anyway, or to me it is, one of my favs songs to play on it anyway.

I suggest Rainmaker. The riff to that is very fun.
Or The Fallen Angel.
And the solos in Paschendale aren't that hard, except for Jannick's, but I've found you can normally get away with fake-shredding his solos...it's what he does live.
So when I go to University, I'm going to start a stadium-rock-cover band (probably going to be called Epica, but we might call ourselves The Penguins Of Doom instead) Anyway, I was talking to the bassist for that and we were trying to chose our Iron Maiden cover...it was really wierd...couldn't really pick one which was a "stadium rock" in the same way I Believe In A Thing Called Love (The Darkness) or It's My Life (Bon Jovi) are... (we discluded the the "epics from that, since we'd mostly have a half-hour set list, and 6 or 7 minutes is too long to dedicate to one song out of that)
Any help or suggestions?
You Got Another Thing Comin' by Judas Priest
Hells Bells by AC/DC
The Immigrant Song by Led Zep
A few that come to mind.

Hm, that's quite tough. I agree with Reach Out but apart from that i can't really think of any Maiden that you could say was 'Stadium Rock'.
Can't really think of any, but maybe Bring Your Daughter, or Run to the Hills, i think that's probably the closet but nothing really stadium rock, i think Fear of the Dark would probably work, but a bit long.

On the Balls to Picasso set, Tears of the Dragon appears 3 times, each a different sound, and they are all great. The ska rhythm is really cool, and somehow seems to fit into it very well. I've learnt the acoustic version, so I've been playing that over and over, driving my flatmates insane:P
What I like about Bruce's solo stuff is that it doesn't have the same sound as Maiden, and it's a fresh sound that fits with Bruce's voice. I probably wouldn't listen to it as much if it sounded exactly like Maiden.
