"Twins Of Fate" as well.

Both names were coined in 1999 or 2000 as April Fools Day pranks by magazines (I hear Metal Hammer was one of them) "announcing" the title of the album that become known as Brave New World.

I doubt we'll get another Shakespearian quote as the album title, though.

Have maiden actually started recording yet?
writing at the moment i think. there's something on their website about it.
Due to Production considerations there will be no support act on the first two tour dates in Denmark but on all the other dates Maiden have confirmed up and coming US band TRIVIUM as their special guests.

Iron Maiden are currently writing material for their new, as yet untitled fourteenth studio album which will be released later in the year prior to the tour. The live show will of course include new album material, and will be in full Maiden tradition - spectacular stage production, sound and lights ... and, of course, Eddie!!

Says Steve Harris, 'We had a fantastic time and a lot of fun last year playing songs from our early albums. However, Maiden is all about pushing ourselves creatively and keeping fresh, so we're all charged up to make a great studio album together with Kevin Shirley and take it out on the road at the end of the year.

These Scandinavian dates herald the start of Maiden's new album World Tour which will take them around parts of Europe through to Christmas - playing selected dates in other parts of the World in the new year.
definitely just writing at the moment.

i could very possibly be wrong. it's a hockey arena though, they just put boards over the ice, so there's a lot of seats, they just don't sell all the seated tickets and sell a load of standing ones instead.

EDIT:
Welcome to Metro Radio Arena Newcastle, a 11,250+ capacity, purpose-built indoor entertainment venue, located on the Banks of the Tyne.

As a bassist, I take offense, considering his basslines were subpar except one or two songs out of the three albums he played on. (Orion, Damage Inc and Call of Ktulu were the best "bassline songs" he played imo). His bass followed the guitar, which he helped write only on Master of Puppets (the album). I take offense. Newsted was much better, and only time will tell what Trujillo does with Metallica.

But at least for the DT section of the Greatest Metal Gig, for a lot of the songs you'd be standing there appreciating the musicianship. Moshing to DT's soft songs? I'd like to see you keep that up without feeling like a dumbass :D

Also about Myung being named several times, I can't recall too many songs where he actually stands out. Surely he has to be an incredible bassist, having supposedly played as much as Petrucci since high school?

What are your opinions on the closing of the IMBB?
Personally I think Maidens Web Fanbase will take a massive hit, as many fans feel shat on with faulty and/or poor quality releases, and no comments from the band when there clearly is a problem with such releases.

I want to say that as with any Iron Maiden product, EMI and Sanctuary ensure there is always stringent and thorough testing involved to make sure the product, the packaging and the content is the very best it can possibly be. Iron Maiden, as a band and we here at Management pride ourselves on producing such product for Maiden fans.

With the help of your postings and emails we have tried to ascertain what the issues are with the playback of the Stereo Disk on the PAL version of the Death On The Road DVD. I hasten to point out that there is NO issue at all with the NTSC versions of this product or indeed the 5.1 Pal Disk and Special Features Disk which makes things even more confusing as to why there appear to be playback issues on some of the PAL Stereo disks.

We currently have the authoring house, the encoding facility, the manufacturing plant in Holland and a stand-alone QC facility looking into this issue so we can work out how to rectify it. At this exact moment in time it's impossible to give the exact cause, nature and reason for this issue. The product was tested and passed all regular procedures and was also had to pass Mr. Harris's own eagle eyes which is often the hardest test to get past.

We went to great lengths with the encoding of the program and worked alongside one of the lead development and encoding teams in Sweden to make sure that the picture and sound were at the highest possible resolution without causing problems to the most basic home DVD systems. Because of the nature of the show and the difficulties of encoding flashing images, with smoke effects and fast editing anybody who has worked in DVD encoding will be aware of the lengths that need to reached to maintain the highest picture quality and that is what has taken the time on this product. This is why there are two separate concert disks. One for a 5.1 Dolby Digital audio stream and the other dedicated to a Stereo track. Many DVD releases from the major film studios nowadays only support 5.1 or DTS soundtracks with no stereo option at all but as a number of fans had mentioned it we decided to supply you with the extra stereo disk you had asked for and at no extra cost for this additional disk.

Test disks were also distributed in advance to the media for review purposes and no problems were reported, and it was only on Friday of last week, when product hit the shelves that any mention of a problem came up on the Bulletin board which of course rang alarm bells here but with the complex nature of the production of this DVD from filming, editing through to final encoding the origin of the issue is somewhat clouded in that the same problem cannot be replicated from DVD player to player.

It seems the likely possibility is that some players are having trouble handling the amount of information on this disk while other players can 'second guess' and thus play it normally. Each DVD Player and manufacturer is different which makes our job all the more difficult when trying to reach such high standards. I can safely say that I, and others here, have all experienced DVD's from major film companies that at one time or another have not played or have had glitches owing to authoring or manufacturing problems. In those cases often they simply direct you to your DVD player manufacturer.

It does appear from reports at retail that the vast majority of you that have bought the product have not experienced any problems at all, however we of course want to avoid any disappointment for the bands loyal following, no matter how few and once the issue has been identified and solved we will take the most swift and appropriate action to ensure that your enjoyment of Iron Maiden is not affected. Obviously the band and we here at Management want you to have the best as you deserve it and we are working all out to make sure that this matter is identified and resolved as soon as physically possible. We will get back to you then with added information.
I for one don't really care about the DVD, and don't use the IMBB or anything else like that... this really addresses most of the problems, but I am personally shocked and appalled by the attitude of the so-called fans on there. I, for one have more faith in Steve and Maiden than to give up my love for the band because of some stupid communication issue with fans.

This isn't some faceless band, it's Iron Maiden, They prove how much they care about the fans all the time. If Maiden were all about money, they would have jacked it in a long long time ago.

I'd like to know why you think the way you do about DOD...I wouldn't count it as my favourite Maiden release, that would go to Piece of mind, with X-Factor a close second, but Paschendale alone is worth the album. I have the CD of DOTR, and the live versions of Paschendale (Anthem for Doomed youth++) Dance of death and Journeyman, all make the transition from the new album, to the live environment very very well, as they did when I saw them be magnificent on the DOD tour.

Also if people really wish to talk about Maiden they can just join some other forum (the unofficial IMBB or here for example). Well there has been no official statement as to why they have taken it off the shelves, and what they are actually doing about it. And how many "Greatest Hits" and live albums have we had other the years? We all love the band but there are a too many re-releases in my opinion.
I agree there are some very good songs on DoD, Paschendale is a classic, and Rainmaker is one of the modern greats. But the album lacks quality in sound, the drums sound awful and the bass is hardly present.
I saw the band on the DoD Tour and they were amazing, very tight and they always put on a great gig, but Bruce sounds awful on DOTR and the solos in some of the older songs sound half-hearted

Lord Abortion

I believe it may still take a while for Kevin Shirley to become an effective producer for the band, I don't hear the problems you hear, but maybe that's just me. Martin Birch produced for Maiden for years, and knew the band inside out, it may take a while for Caveman to get to that level of attunement with the band, and that could account.
However, I half-agree about the best of situation, but I can only count two, recently (discounting BOTB) Edward the Great and the American Greatest hits thing, which never get released over here. I dislike ETG, because it's mostly singles, and I don't think that represents Maiden at their best. But that was the album that got me into Maiden, and I should be thankful for that, I'm sure other people would say the same. Live albums aren't any sort of problem for me, the more Different versions of Maiden songs and Rare live versions of seldom-played tracks I have, the better, Lord of the flies on DOTR is excellent in that regard.

I don't play Guitar, so I don't know a good solo from a bad one, but being a vocalist myself, I can't really see much wrong with Bruce's vocals, but the guy is nearing 50, it's no surprise that he can't do some of the things on older songs he could when he was 25. I would suggest you get the Bootleg from the recent tour, when they played for Sweedish TV in Ullewi. The band, and Bruce especially, sounds fantastic on that.

Surely you can all hear the difference in Bruce's voice when you compare DOTR to RiR? I hear that Bruce has a cold that night, so his singing wasn't on top form.

RiR > DotR, despite DotR having Dance of Death, Journeyman and Paschendale.

RiR has The Wickerman, a far better version Fear Of The Dark, Blood Brothers, Dream Of Mirrors, The Evil That Men Do, Sign Of The Cross and The Clansman.

Incidentally, I love Bruce's intro to The Clansman:

"This is a song set in medieval Scotland, it's called The Clansman. This song is about freedom! Something that should be familiar to you all. But which sometimes is not."

my life has a meaning again :).

Uni will probably finish for Christmas on the 18th, or soon after anyway, so i can earn the money back over Chrismas :)

Hopefull I'll have broken up from college by then if not........Maiden is more important
Newcastle will be 12 minutes on the train from Uni...

I cant wait 'till they come to the US. Seeing them live would OWN. I have to convince my parents (im 15) to buy them now. Then wait for them to come on sale, becuase it will take a few days, and from the looks of things, I wont have that much time.

UK tickets go on sale on the 17th.
i don't know how much of a US tour they'll actually do, i don't know how much of one they did for Dance of Death.

I was thinking one summer, either next, or the one after, me and my friend should fly to europe for a few days when theres ther most concentration of concerts. Beauce a)europe is cool and b) Theres much more good metal concerts over there.
Of course it wont happen, but still.

As a no0b to this thread, i guess i'll just say that one of the coolest part of iron maiden songs, is the epicness of them. Like "the trooper" "Pascendale".. etc.

Moonchild, Infinite Dreams and Seventh Son are my favourite individual songs though, with The Evil That Men Do not far behind.

Maybe they'll open with it and use their "other" opener for that tour (Aces Eye) for the first one after the encore.

Either way, I'm hoping to hear most of the 7th Son album on that tour.

Im beginning to fear that i won't get tickets for this Maiden gig. As some of you may know the IMOC are getting a 5 day advance on tickets which means a lot of tickets will be sold, then the tickets come on sale to the general public on 17th at 9am which means i'll be at school and thus won't be able to buy them until 4 ish. And everyone knows Maiden gigs have a habit of selling out rather quickly.:(

Usual price I guess...It depends on venue and booking agent, also depends if you pay for transport with the ticket, it can mount up.

I paid £45 for DoD. The little ticket to get in the place was £25, so booking fee and cost of travelling on a coachload of Hull Maidenites came to £20.

I also got my ticket nearly a month after they first went on sale, but it was the last ticket at the place where I get all my tickets from
