When is it being released? Is it Summer? If so, I'm hoping it's the 19th of August, since that'd be my 20th Birthday, so I can celebrate both me becoming ancient and the release of the new holy album. :chug:

They played Wildest Dreams all during the "Give Me Ed.." tour before DoD was released, with Bruce saying that they don't care if they put it on the 'net, as long as they buy the album if they like the tracks

Having listened to it...is it just me or Blaze a better singer live?

I excepted him to butcher Hallowed and a few others, but he really didn't. Even if I do prefer Bruces versions of most of the songs.

Blaze > Hetfield and most metal singers (apart, perhaps from Serj Tankien (SOAD) who just kicks ***)

He may nnot have sung bruces songs too well, but his songs he sang magnicifintly(sp?), they should have just toured with his songs and an occasional bruce tune (ie. ATSS,the evil that men do)

I remember hearing his studio versions of songs and thinking "Urg...", but I'm not so sure now. He's got a good live voice.

Paul. I just love the early raw Maiden stuff. And Paul was the perfect voice for that stuff.

Dannyboy15

Paul is 1,000,000 times the vocalist Blazed ever could be. Paul and Bruce are almost neck & neck to me, but Bruce still wins.

-The Frank
01-25-2006, 02:01 AM
Paul ftw. Seriously they're both great singers but paul had more energy and aggressive-ness. But for me it was probably more the music then the singing for the first two albums. Blaze were too slow and not fast paced enough. With paul i got to headbang all night long.

Can someone please tell me what ftw stands for. As for the singer discussion I don't have any albums from either one but from what I've heard Paul is my favourite too, he actually has the odd similarity to bruce but it could be just Steve's melody writing.

Iron Maiden kicks complete and total ***. Their music is actually very simple when you get down to it, often using the exact same 3 chords they've used their careers, but they sure come up with incredible songs and riffs.

crag

Blaze is better than Paul IMO. i just like his deep emotional vocals so much more than Pauls rougher ones. Also Blaze had the difficult task of filling the shoes of the greatest metal vocalist ever, which he did excellently (even though many ignorant fools will disagree)

But if he contributes in the writing of the song...it doesnt always matter if he sings in it or not.

Yeah it's great, it's 7/8 time as well, making it quite hard to get your head around if you don't know your theory (like me). Back in the day when I got lessons, I told my guitar teacher that no matter how hard I practised, I could never nail Paschendale (just the rhythm bit), so I brought the CD in and played it to him, he looked at me and said "That's in 7/8 time, of course you'd have a problem with that, now put that crap away and start listening to real music!"

Brian May is awesome, and incredibly underrated. He built his own guitar. Eric Clapton once said "Brian May can do things with the guitar that I wouldn't dream of doing." Seriously, he has some of my favourite guitar solos ever. Queen's guitarwork is great.

I have no idea because I don't listen to that much new Maiden. I think they just have two solos from two different guitarists, but they change which two every song. And when playing old songs live, I imagine they just do it differently every time or, in the case of the Trooper, they have two guitarists playing the same solo at the same time \m/

It's not linear harmony (which is normally the sort you find in metal music) but it's harmony in the broader, classical sense of the word.

That came out a lot better then I thought it would have. I screwed up the solo majorly, that was the one thing that caused me the most trouble, I'm used to playing Hs solo, because it's so fun to play.

That is the crappest song title Maiden ever did.

I think that goes to "More Tea Vicar"

Listening to the Best of the B-Sides.

Maiden's My Generation>The Who's:)

Blasthphemy! Actually, can you upload that for me, I really want to hear it.

Oh, and Children of the Damned is a great song, probably my second favorite on Number of the Beast (after HBTN, of course.)

Anyway we havent done this in a while only becasue it got side tracked.

top 5 list of maiden songs from each album.

I believe we stopped at NPFTD.

So here i go:
1.Run silent Run deep
2.Public enema number 1
3.No prayer for the dying
4.Tailgunner
5.The assasin :p
I lost the sheet of the scores.

But I guess we can do it for fun.

lists get boring :p.

Crag, i listened to your cover, the mix is fine IMO, guitar work's great, drums could be better but meh, they're programmed, right? the bass was good as well.

I'm gonna start working on HBTN tomorrow. I'll use that drumtrack that that guy did for MXaiden and what Crag already put on it.

Now, the main decision I have to make; Bass or Guitar?

I might do bass on one version (my own version maybe? :p ) and guitar on the main version, but just so you guys can give me your opinion on my bass playing. That's if it's ok with you guys?

Oh and can you mix it again crag? I suck at mixing big time, but you seem to have it sussed :)

I can't get to sleep at all anymore, I don't know what's the matter with me.

I finally get to sleep at about 8am and wake up at abot 3-4pm, it's screwing up my uni work.

Anyhoo, yeah we'll resurrect the ashes of Mxaiden :P

Hey guys i had a question what album (if it is from an album), or what single is this (If it is a single) i've never seen it before today. It's the one where eddie is sitting on the wall and hes got two flags one is a british flag and the other is a red and white flag.

Deth

That looks like 2 Minutes To Midnight, though it's not the same artwork as the single.

i don't know what single or album it'd be from, but if the white & red flag is a red cross on a white background it's possibly one of the war type singles, as that's the cross of St. George.

With a nuclear explosion in the background? That could be 2 minutes to midnight, if not, I have no idea.

As for Mxaiden, we have;

Me - Daves Guitars (Bass for my own version, which crag will mix <3 )
Crag - Guitar H or Janick
Deth - Bass
the_uber_penguin - something that's not drums (guitar maybe?)
-The Frank - The Riggsy of the thread. (If Nickos from another planet, he owns the planet :p )

I reckon we could get away with some 3 guitar songs like, No More Lies, Dance of Death or Paschendale

Ollie - Vocals

There, all is fixed :D
