Has anyone else noticed the cat with the halo and the grim reaper on a lot of the Iron Maiden covers? The cat can be seen on the far right side on the rooftop on Killers, although it doesn't seem to have a halo yet. The grim reaper can be seen on the back cover of Powerslave on the left side. The grim reaper is in the clouds near the moon on the back of Live After Death and the cat is on the ground next to the tombstone with the rose(you have to look at the back of the cd booklet to see this one). The cat appears between Eddie's legs and the reaper is near the pyramids(back of cd booklet). These are the only apperances of these strange character's I've been able to find so far, but I'll keep looking.

Some other interesting cover details: The piece of metal holding Eddie's head closed on Piece of Mind is present on all album covers afterward. Bruce is holding Eddie's brain on Somewhere in Time and the pyramids from Powerslave are present too. You can see Batman on a ledge above the subway(back of album cover).

I think Hallowed Be Thy Name would be a better closer personally, but Iron Maiden is good. And Crag I agree Rime of the Ancient Mariner should be played more often, awesome song.

Now that ClassicRockMan did best song on each album let's do the two worst on each album. Let's say first three this time. (1 is worst 2 is second worst)

Iron Maiden:
1. Running Free
2. Strange World

This was a hard album almost every song is fantastic. Although those songs are the worst on the album, they're still great songs.

Killers:
1. Prodigal Son
2. Ides of March

Neither are bad per se. Ides of March is more of an opener and Prodigal Son just isn't fantastic. Still good songs.

Number of the Beast:
1. Gangland
2. Invaders

Both are decent but below Maiden's normal standard of excellence.
I'll be doing that later after we have a contest with the best Maiden songs. I'll just take the song with the fewest points/votes per album and make that the worst Maiden song. I believe "Gangland" is winning.

He considers them too complicated and 'undrummerish'. But blimey, his right foot is amazing, he doesn't even need a double bass pedal. The first song he played (along with a guitarist and bassist from the We Will Rock You show thing), was Led Zeppelin - Moby Dick, and he gives Bonham a bloody run for his money.

I had a feeling it would be that. Guitarists, Bassists, and Drummers unless singing is they're main thing in general should not sing in front of people... sad but true :upset: Actually in a few cases there are some really good backing vocals in bands
Both Portnoy and Petrucci in Dream Theater are excellent backing Vocalists.

the random voice at the start of Still Life was Nicko saying "don't mess with things you don't understand" when he was drunk, played backwards. i think that's it anyway. someone accused maiden of being satanics, so Nicko "defended" them :p

If you turn up the album version of Paschendale loud enough you can hear him in the "The bodies of our and our foes..." bit.

I think his voice has some fantastic textures to it.

Ironically enough, I was considering Paschendale for the song for my last talent show. I was thinking either Paschendale, Journeyman (kinda fitting seeing as it's the last week of junior high and I'm leaving that school) or Seventh Son for Maiden songs. Other songs I was considering were Opeth's "Deliverance" or "Master's Apprentices" or Nile's "Unas, Slayer of the Gods"

Edit: Somebody said Bruce can't hit notes anymore, but that's really to be expected considering he's 46 and he's been doing this for 20+ years...he's still better than a lot of vocalists out there now though

Edit 2: I was listening to Face in the Sand, and I'm still trying to figure out why Nicko had to use a double pedal. I've read that using the double pedal caused him pain, but why couldn't he do it with one foot unless that caused him pain as well?

I also was listening to Dream of Mirrors, and I've showed people this song and they all say "there's no way he's using a single pedal, he has to be using a double." One person called me stupid because I said "he's doing a triplet pattern on the single pedal" lolz

Also, there's a fill in the RiR version of Iron Maiden at about 3:45 in that sounds to me like a double pedal, but it's probably a mix of the low toms and pedal

he used a double bass pedal for that song because he didn't have the stamina to keep it going with just a single.

I hate GP5. The "real guitar sim" thing sounds horrible to me, and that puts the drums in the background to a point where you can barely hear them

Blaze's scream on the beginning of NOTB is similar to how Bruce did it on RiR :o

I'll be uploading part 2 (The Evil that Men Do, Fear of the Dark, Iron Maiden, Number of the Beast, Trooper and Sanctuary) sometime today or tonight, then part one comes later

is this a video we're talking about? the only live footage of Blaze i've seen is the futureal video, and the trooper video where he gets spat on by some bloke in the crowd, and him and Steve look ready to kill the bloke.

Paul Dianno came to my town, at a really really small club, along with Hi-On Maiden (tribute band), and I couldn't go! You had to be 18, argh. My sister went though, and met him. :(

I might get that bootlegged album. After all I love Dream Theater and I love Iron Maiden. Should be good.
