I only download what can't be bought, like Bootlegs, TV rips. If I download an album and I like it, I buy it, if I don't, I don't buy it, saves me money...

I know how you feel. I do have one of their songs on my computer, which is a live Iron Maiden, but that's only because I couldn't get it out of my head and I didn't have the album. Otherwise though, I just buy the CD.

It's always great to have a new Eddie cover to line up next to the others. :D

give us a review please, especially if setlist is different from Leeds / Reading!
man, that's gonna be one hell of a show, probably better than the Leeds one.
Yer I will do, no guarantee that I can remember the setlist though. Anyone know anything about the support bands "Vodoo six" and "Pig Iron"?

Also, i've been away a while, any reason as to why all the Official threads had their name changed to "Rock and Metals....."?

good good :thumb:

i think a while ago the Mods decided that "Official threads" were a bit out-dated, and sounded a bit pompous / stuck-up to n00bs, and that general threads were better.

I was just looking up Iron Maiden on Wikipedia (I was interested in how high in the charts their singles got), and it turned out that they were being featured today on the site on the main page out of every single article on there. (Thousands and thousands... and thousands)

That's trippy.

everyone read this interview with Sharon Osbourne:

http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/interviews/sharon_vs_iron_maiden.html

I was a bit restrained with the whole "**** Sharon" thing, because I wasn't fully sure she'd done it. Now I am.

**** SHARON

I hope she gets shut in a coffin with nails in the door (the original Iron Maiden) and then raped by Eddie.

I'll throw in a bit of desolating a lá the aliens in Out Of Silent Planet, then throw her to the Nomad to tear her up a bit.

But before she's dead, we'll still have to lock her up and hang her while playing Hallowed Be Thy Name, dropping the trapdoor on the last beat of the song.

Oh yeah, and we should all find a cutlass and charge her while playing "The Trooper", then switch to "Run To The Hills" once her security team arrive...

Deth
08-31-2005, 04:01 PM
Well now, that's a little harsh. Maybe just a good thrashing by Killers' Era Eddie.

the funny thing is, Bruce is one of the few guys who can boast and not be making a lot of it up, he'll always have credibility. sharon's just behaving like a kid in a playground at school who someone called a name.

As if you needed another reason to hate Sharon:

"Let's face it, the guy is a failed solo singer who's gone back to his band after his solo career failed. I don't know how many albums his last solo albums old in England but in America it sold 6,000 copies. Every solo album my husband puts out goes platinum. Look, tell you what, you take a picture of my husband and a photo of Monkey Boy down to (London's) Regent Street now and see who people recognize. There's no ****ing question, is there? And that's what it boils down to: Jealousy. Bruce Dickinson isn't my husband's peer. There wouldn't be an IRON MAIDEN if there was no SABBATH."

And YDload, your user-title is hilarious.

Lord Abortion
08-31-2005, 08:10 PM
Sorry Sharon, but do you really think Bruce gives a flying **** about his American sales?

oh...hang on....so Bruce had a solo career, so did Ozzy... they are both part of very successful bands...she says bruce returned to his band after a failed solo career?

erm...who exactly was Ozzy performing with at Ozzfest?
I'm damn sure it wasn't his solo band

Lord Abortion

Bruce left maiden because his heart wasn't in it any more and he wanted to do something different, not because the band kicked him out for being a cunt, like Sabbath did with Ozzy.

-The Frank
09-01-2005, 03:08 AM
"Kerrang!: Reading between the lines of [Iron Maiden manager] Rod Smallwood's statement, the unspoken suggestion is that you orchestrated this whole thing...

Sharon Osbourne: Of course I did. I had the PA turned on and off. And look it's not hard for someone to walk into a diehard Ozzfest crowd and say, 'Who wants to throw an egg at a rock star?' Who wouldn't wanna do that? I went out and bought 50 eggs and me and my daughter had a ****ing blast. C'mon, it's rock 'n' roll. No-one died. They'll be waiting a long ****ing time for an apology from me"

 what a bitch

-The Frank
09-01-2005, 03:10 AM
kerrang : Did you confront Bruce personally about this?

Sharon :No, I didn't want to give Monkey Boy the satisfaction of thinking that he'd annoyed Ozzy. The truth is that Ozzy never heard a single note of Iron Maiden's shows, most nights he wasn't on site when the band took the stage. My husband is a prince. And you know what, he had nothing to do with this. He wouldn't stoop to something like this, but I'm a ****ing bitch and I have no problem with it.

I have roundwounds that haven't been changed in a long time and sound like flatwounds (which is what I want anyway). Besides, any type of playing kinda hurts my fingers for a while because I have more blisters which need to be ground into calluses.

All Maiden hurts my fingers but it sounds so good :(

Cut my life into pieces
I've reached my last resort, suffocation, no breathing
Don't give a **** if I cut my arms bleeding
Would it be wrong, would it be right
If I took my life tonight, chance are that I might
Mutilation out of sight and I'm contemplating suicide
Cause I'm losing my sight, losing my mind
Wish somebody would tell me I'm fine
Nothing's alright, nothing is fine
I'm running and I'm crying
I never realized I was spread too thin
Till it was too late and I was empty within
Hungry, feeding on chaos and living in sin
Downward spiral, where do I begin
It all started when I lost my mother
No love for myself and no love for another
Searching to find a love upon a higher level
Finding nothing but questions and devils
Cause I'm losing my sight, losing my mind
Wish somebody would tell me I'm fine
Nothing's alright, nothing is fine
I'm running and I'm crying
I can't go on living this way

Why do you guys think it is that Maiden is only really popular in the U.K.? A lot of other bands from there are just as/more popular in the US like Zeppelin, Sabbath, Cream etc.

YDload

Because Maiden tours in the UK more and gets more airplay there too. I mean, you hear Judas Priest songs on the radio all the time here in the US, but when was the last time you heard a Maiden song? Actually, I did not too long ago, but that was a fluke coinciding with their Ozzfest appearance in the area.

I don't think I've ever heard a Maiden song on the radio. I actually started listening to them because someone on mx (I'm pretty sure it was you) said something about Hallowed Be Thy Name being really good and I downloaded it and liked it and then downloaded some more stuff. Then I bought The Number of the Beast. I'll probably buy Powerslave when I get some more money because I've heard a lot of people say it's the best one.

Maiden don't get a huge amount of airplay here in the UK, first time i knowingly listened to them was when they re-released RTTH, and i happened to be watching Top of the Pops when it was on. on Kerrang you generally see NOTB, RTTH and can i play with madness, not much else, but scuzz have Live at Donington versions of FOTD and HBTN, which are pretty cool, but they dont put them on very often.

I call Iron Maiden a hair metal band, especially when I'm trying to introduce new people to them (normally before that the heaviest thing they've listened to is The Darkness, so they have a rough idea what to expect) and it works. A lot of people I know think Iron Maiden sound a lot like Wheatus, because of the name check Wheatus gave them.

Did you know on Wheatus' second single, Bruce played guitar?

22 Acacia Avenue is my favourite so far. It makes most sense, because that is where you'd go if you want to find Eddie.

I think we should all make a pilgrimige there at some point...

Multimap came up with 20 places named 22 Acacia Avenue. That was the only one in East London. The rest are in West London or Manchester.

EDIT: We should all go there one day, knock on the door and say, "Hi, is Eddie in? And have you seen Charlotte lately?"

EDIT2: N. Ireland 1, England 0!!!

WTF :amaze:

i think i was Yload who said it but, scream for me R&M is the one i think is the best so far, and yes killers overshawdows piece of mind completely. It has no filler tracks at all. Except, suprisingly enough ghengis kahn was written to be a filler, because they needed a new song on short notice.

Fun Face

Ghengis khan has the riff that Papa Roach stole and mixed it with a Green Day song (Brain Stew) and called it Last Resort.

How about The Thread of the Beast?

Or : *Gets egged by the Black Sabbath Thread*

That was uncalled for. Neither Ozzy NOR Sabbath had any part in that, it was those bitches Sharon and Kelly. I am a huge Sabbath fan and a regular in the Black Sabbath thread yet I still think what happened to Maiden was disgraceful.

I saw Iron Maiden's Reading highlights last night (showed Run To The Hills and Iron Maiden), and all that stuff they were saying about Bruce was true...he couldn't really hit the "TO" in "Run TO the hills" like he could.

I picked up a few Iron Maiden albums yesterday, which I think now finally raises my Maiden collection status to "half-decent".

Piece of Mind, Killers and Powerslave, to be added to The Number of the Beast, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, Brave New World, Dance of Death and a compilation.

Which compilation? You should get a live album next, so go and get Rock In Rio.

Ah the new Maiden CD - a few noticable missing tracks, but overall a brilliantly played live album. I'd recommend it, but it would be useful instead for maiden to instead of playing their latest album's tracks release a live album that is purely their greatest hits instead of being dominated by their latest album.

i prefer it when they do less of their greater songs because i'd like to hear stuff i've never heard live, right now i hav around 10 different versions of Hallowed live.

Yes. I'd love to hear Face In The Sand live, or some of the stuff from the second half of BNW. (Particularly The Thin Line Between Love And Hate and The Fallen Angel)
