I thought I got the 9000th? On my screen its saying he's got 9001st...and I've just noticed that. Yay for me :thumb: ;)
I was listening to Dream Theater playing Hallowed before. Being a live bootleg though the production on its pretty poor. It sounds wierd with the clicky bass of Harris aswell.

Yeah he made it to number four, just behind Flea, Geddy, and Les. He's the top heavy metal bassist (as well he should be)!
Also, eddie-the-trooper should be happy to know that the guy from Stratovarius that he was pushing for made it to the top 100 too.

neither have i, i must buy it
i find x-factor good but serverly lacking, and very, VERY samey.
Watch out, eddie-the-trooper will be after you for that. Even though you said it's good.
well, i'm sorry, but it IS lacking for about half the album. SOTC, good. Lord of the flies, good. Heart of darkness, good. Man on the edge, good. The unbeliever, good. Look for the truth, good.
Everything else is basically the same. I mean, not only do I struggle to tell them apart, but I believe THREE of the songs on that album use EXACTLY THE SAME CHORD SEQUENCE.
It's not me who's complaining, but eddie will be on your case as soon as he shows up.

I guess you're kinda like me. I'm 17, RHCP is my fav band (you prolly know that already), but Maiden is my 2nd fav. They're pure awesomness. My fav Maiden albums are Number of the Beast and Powerslave. I think that after those 2 you should prolly get Piece of Mind, their self titled album (note... different singer on that album) and maybe Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. I'm probably forgetting some though.

Does anyone else here not like Edward the Great? I think the tracks are weak. My best of album would pwn theirs.
it's got some good songs, but overall, i do feel the tracklisting is quite week. The 1-disc version of BOTB > ETG
Most of their best tracks wouldn't make it to a best of though because they are either too long or not well known enough.

Maiden best ofs are stupid, because each album is its own masterpiece. Maiden isn't one of those bands that you should just check out a best of.
That would have been true of the 80's, but there was such crap on the albums during the 90's, that the whole decade could be reduced to a 2-disc album of pure gold, rather than four mediocre albums.
17/05/2005: SVT announce historic Iron Maiden live TV broadcast
Sweden’s National TV Broadcaster, SVT, have signed an agreement to film and broadcast Iron Maiden LIVE at their sold out show at the Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg on July 9th. This makes history as the first time any artist has had their show broadcast in full, nationwide in Sweden since LIVE AID back in 1985. The show is also being broadcast by National TV broadcaster YLE in Finland.
SVT will be broadcasting the show live directly on SVT2 from the Ullevi Stadium while in Finland, YLE, will be broadcasting with a one hour delay.
The Ullevi Stadium show promises to be the showcase of the bands upcoming European Tour as the Stadium will be rammed with 55,000 Maiden fans who were lucky enough to get tickets in the rush that saw the show completely sell out within two and a half hours of going on sale last November following 75,000 ticket applications!! After Bruce Springsteen this is the second fastest sellout of a stadium show in Sweden ever. Similar reactions have happened in both Norway with 17000 tickets and Finland with 22000 tickets, both selling out in incredibly quick time.
Says Steve Harris,'We've always enjoyed massive support from our Swedish fans and in many ways it's like a home match for us in the welcome we always receive . The band always love playing there and we are looking to put on a spectacular show for everyone there and all the fans who will be watching at home. It's a fantastic way to finish the European tour thanks to SVT and we're working with them to make sure this will be a great moment of TV history for both of us.'
Iron Maiden will be performing songs almost exclusively from their legendary first four albums which saw them become one of Rock and Metals biggest Icons, a position they have maintained consistently for 25 years
Manager Rod Smallwood explains, 'This European Tour will be the biggest we have ever done in terms of the number of fans we will play to so we want to make it very special. Following the theme of the very successful 'Early Days' DVD we are taking these first four albums and tours as the theme for the set list and for the Production of the show, which will be featuring some of the ideas incorporated in the early days of the band, particularly on The Beast on the Road Tour and the World Piece Tour. This is going to be huge and a unique treat for our fans... and anyone else!!!”
The broadcast will go out on SVT2 and is scheduled to start at 9.15pm. The show is to be broadcast in regular stereo but also in 5.1 Surround Sound allowing fans at home who can decode the signal to be able to feel as though they are right there in the stadium.

I've just got into Maiden, and I downloaded what are considered their best songs. The one that stood out the most were Hallowed Be Thy Name and Rime Of The Ancient Mariner. Those songs pwn me so hard. And Bruce Dickinson is still such a good singer, his live performance from what I've heard is still pretty flawless even though they've been going over 20 years strong. I plan to stay away from the singer between Somewhere In Time (?) and No Prayer For The Dying as the general consensus is, they suck. But I'm sure people in this thread think otherwise.

on it- there are no other credits on the tracklist
like they are trying to move the blame for this on janick
Every band needs a whipping boy I suppose. Why not the new(ish) guy?

Wow, long time no post in here.
Just got the Run to the Hills book, anyone else got/read it? No doubt there will be....What do you guys think of it?
Got Somewhere in Time and Fear of the Dark last week, not listened to Fear yet but I have listened to SiT, its probably my least favourite Maiden album that I've got so far, although theres still plenty of good stuff on it.
Only need 3 more albums to make the wee Eddy face thing from the sides of the albums, I know I need Killers (have it on vinyl and CDR already though), No Prayer for the Dying, and one other one, I'm thinking its A real live/dead one? Don't know, I have all the other Bruce/Di'Anno studio albums....So I'm thinking its probably a live one.

SiT is very underrated IMO. Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner is my favorite Maiden song, and the album as a whole is very awesome. I think its just overshadowed by the perfection of SSOASS.

i think it is a real live / dead one that you need, if its not that it's live after death - i think you only need up to FOTD to make the face?

SiT is a great album, my favourite songs off it are: Caught somewhere in time, sea of madness, heaven can wait, wasted years, déja vu, stranger in a strange land, alexander the great - oh wait, thats all of them

Oh man, I'd love to see how Steve pulls that off live at an even faster tempo. I still think it's the most challenging song that I've ever attempted to play the whole way through with some success, but nothing beats watching it performed by the masters.
I'm still HOPING to see them at Ozzfest this year, but I don't know what my friends' schedules are like. I know there are a lot of crappy cookie-cutter nu-metal bands there, but would I wait patiently for them to finish screaming like ninnies (with the exact same inflection for every singer too) to watch IRON MAIDEN and the ORIGINAL BLACK SABBATH?? Oh hell yeah.

I like Iced Earth's Hallowed, and no matter what Eddie-the-trooper says, I think the CoB covers are great.
I hear Dream Theater covered Maiden as well, though I haven't heard it.
COB Aces > COB Trooper
and the Power Metal cover of POTO was by "New Eden". It's on the "A Call To Irons" tribute album
does anyone know any websites that let you listen to the covers of maiden songs

here (http://s37.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2HOW64JC37CMQ3HJFAEOETX6DA) is Bruce & Dream Theater doing Where Eagles Dare - well, the start, until Bruce forgets the words.

I only play bass, and Transylvania is tricky enough as it is. I really like the octaves Steve plays in the solo section though. You know, the one which has the traditional Maiden progression of E-D-C-D-E? It's fun. :)
Also, if you want a singer that won't pale in comparison to Bruce, just do a Di'Anno song!

Too late.
Just checked e-bay and saw one of the dodgy t's with just the countries on it going for $100.
I've got the black t with the individual concert dates for Europe on the back.
Must check to see how much me powerslave pic disc is worth.

Cool, I think the picture discs go for about £50. I've got the Seventh son one, that's about £50 I think in a collectables shop.
