well the thing that confused me was that some songs had bold text and others didn't. The ones that didn't, were the ones that I wanted, so I assumed they were unavailable...I'll give it another go tonight when I get home from college.

Ok I just put Bruces new album on, and the first song is surreal...not good. But the second song, wow, it's an air guitar tune. It sounds completely different to Maiden and all the other Bruce songs I've heard. It's 'kin great. I hope the rest of the album is like this...
I just heard Children of Bodom's cover of Aces High. Pretty rocking.

I like what I've heard of CoB, just that song isn't wrtten for that style.
I do like the solo do, has a different edge.
i prefer the CoB version of the trooper to CoB aces high, but CoB aces high solo > original solo
ashman
04-13-2005, 12:50 PM
I've not heard the CoB version of the Trooper...
its so fast its about a minute shorter, and instead of "whoooaaaa ooohhh oooohhhh" its just a scream; its much harsher than the maiden version, but i dont like the solo as much.

The usual. Shirts, mugs, caps, CDs, DVDs, fan stuff, probably novelty stuff as well.
I think Bruce'll be keeping his solo stuff seperate though.
ashman
04-14-2005, 04:43 AM
Yeah, I think Steve isn't that happy about Bruce doing both his solo stuff and Maiden, so I doubt there will be any Solo Bruce stuff at a gig...except for the guys who sit outsides...those pirates..

their music is a perfect ball... it might be sweet to look at for a while, but it soon turns boring, while a more bumpy one will hold your intrest a little longer(if you like to study balls that is...)

Dream Theater is a band full of great musicians, but they treat music as a competition more than an art form. The execution is flawless, but the lyrics are really unimaginative and the keyboard overkill makes every song sound like an anime soundtrack or something.
Fine band, but they're no Maiden.
Hehe, LaBrie is a fine singer, but he really does whine a lot. Bruce is a much better singer, in terms of tone and range.

wich is the best song harris has ever played or the hardest one to play on the bass
Best song he has ever played? That's a toughie... Rime Of The Ancent Mariner and Losfer Words are both good examples. I'm not a bassist, so the hardest one would be beyond me.

That was off-topic.
it was not, cause Steve Harris plays a Fender precision, and im gonna use this one for an Iron Maiden Tribute band.
and yes, steve Have sig strings, but the only difference from the original strings is the colour on the end of them..:p
ah ok. i'm hoping to get an ESP Ltd. B-50 bass by the end of this summer :)
Actually, Harris' sig. strings are made mostly of nickel instead of chrome, making the tone closer to his. I've seen them sold near where I am, but they are twice as expensive as normal strings.

Harris strings is exactly like The original Rotosound flatwounds... and they cost exactly the same as Rotosounds other Flatwounds, Most people use 45 - 105 bass strings, steve harris have 50 - 110... even though thats still regular strings, but that and the colour is the only difference...
and they are Monel strings....
Rotosound RS77LE Jazz Bass and Rotosound SH 77 Steve Harris Signature Set are EXACTLY the same stings.
After some brief research, you are correct. I did read an article in Bass Guitar saying what I said though.

I doubt it. I mean, think about it - BNW tour, live album. DOD tour, live dvd. I really doubt they are gonna make release live fodder from three tours in a row. That would be stupid, and I doubt Maiden would do that unless there is a huge want from the fans for such a thing to be done - I can only see two reasons to do it, you see. A) For the fans, and B) for the money. Seeing as they are not likely to do it for the money, if the fans don't want it it ain't gonna happen. If it DOES happen and the fans don't want it, I'll lose a lot of my respect for Maiden.

Clapton is a very emotional player, but he doesn't really try new things anymore...But Murray is a very experimental guitarists, he tries a lot of new styles .etc but he does only use the same key over and over and over over again...
Aren't most Iron Maiden songs in E minor? I can think of a few that aren't (DOM, NML, Journeyman and DoD, specifically).
In fairness, Dave does do his Paschendale solo in C# minor.

Well Hallowed is kind of weird because it doesn't have a traditional song structure. So where IS the interlude there? If you mean the part after all of the lyrics and before the solo (where it picks up and starts going faster), or the guitar harmonies between verses, then I like either one of those.

Normally it's spelled "awesome" but I'll let it slide because you can play that song in its entirety at a live pace.
Also, I played along with the song Iron Maiden and discovered that I was actually playing it FASTER than it really is on the album. So it's good that I was learning to play it quicker because that's probably what the live version is like, but bad because I really wasn't that good at playing it faster.

Yeah E minor...I thought Adrians solo was in C# Minor.
There are over 100 Maiden songs, most are in E minor.
Could well be. I assumed it's Dave's solo because of the heavy jazz influence in it and the ridiculous speed, while the last one (in D minor) is more typical of Adrian (lots of position changes, big stretch, very rhythmical) and that Jannick did the first one (very cheesy, like lots of Jannicks...) in E minor.
I think writing a lot of songs in the same key is good, it makes you less likely to write the same song in different keys (like punk bands) and you get used to that key, so you can do more in it, in terms of songwriting.
dunno... hope so...

I thought Daves was first, then Adrian, then 'Blood is falling like the rain...' and then Janick. It's the way that they play that gives it away for me. I always use paschendale as my example when explaining the 3 different types. First one: Very hammer on and pull off based, a few triplets thrown in = Dave, Second: A bit of wah, kind of awkward, that thing where you start low and go up = Adrian, Third one = Bends right at the 3rd fret region, kinda sloppy = Janick.
I don't know that much about keys, everything I know about is from playing Maiden songs and finding out what key they play in.

Six months?! Well you're getting an early start to Iron Maiden, so don't get frustrated too quickly. You're definitely on the right track, but playing like Steve doesn't happen overnight. Have some patience and twiddle them fingers!

Ok fair enough point. But I was mainly referring to point A) " For The Fans " for those who are unlucky enough to go see them.
Alos when is the DoD tour, live dvd being released and do you know what the setlist is and when is the next part of the history coming out. I'm guessing mid to late 2005
