Didn't Dave get knocked unconscience by Eddie before, or is that just me going mad?
I heard that he was once, but he was brought round in time for the next song and finished the set.
EDIT: 900th post, yay!

i love that album, it wouldnt sound half as powerful with bruce or Paul(Bruce got an little "Thinner" voice, it just dont give the same power)
As you all know X-factor is one of my favourite albums
fortunes of war being one of the best blaze singing moments
the aftermath is brilliant too

Well im 17 and my sis's friend is twenty so.
i got drunk and cheated on my last girlfriend, but to be honest i dont care any more, as i dont think i could have put up with her much longer.
janick got dazzled by lights when they were playing in germany, he fell off the stage and when he was found he was unconcious.

I think he said one time he got hit really hard by him, not sure if he said he got knocked out.
I just checked on this Mathias, you were right. He spoke of a cut lip and lots of blood and lots of embarressment.
He also said he tore a ligament in his knee jumping off the drum riser, and had to play 12 shows with his leg in plaster of Paris and because of the ramps on and off the stage he had to be literally carried on and off.
ouch, who was it that did that?
My drummer jumps off his drum riser after we've finnished our gigs.
But in a really dramatic style, looks so silly, he better watch out he could really do himself an injury by the sound of it :p
yeh lol. what songs do you do at your gigs?

alright Gur!
what did you play?
all our own songs, i'm afraid, so the titles would be somewhat meaningless.
this gig we're playing tuesday week MAY be recorded, so if yes you can expect live mp3's up next week.
Anyway: I just realised that the tape from the Ruskin Arms is the only thing I haven't watched yet on Early Days.
12 Wasted Years > Early Days, in terms of Documentary vs. Documentary. The bit with Derek Riggs on Early Days is from 12 Wasted Years, except only about half the length - if that.

i might be able to afford leeds, ollie, but i cant stretch to £135 for download, plus travel and food (and of course alcohol)
by the way, theres buses from newcastle so you can get there easy, check on the download website to see where buses go from to the festival.
and i will also get a leeds day ticket for maiden...

I havn't been into them but long, but I have downloaded part of Powerslave, all of The number of the beast, edward the great, and 7th son of a 7th son.

Number of the beast
Fear of the dark
Aces high
Powerslave
The Trooper
etc...

okay I can do 1...
in no perticular order...
hallowed be thy name
aces high
the sign of the cross
fortunes of war
where eagles dare
brave new world
the ghost of the navigator
heaven can wait
blood brothers
paschendale
dream of mirrors
powerslave
the rime of the ancient mariner
still life
the aftermath
wrathchild
another life
purgatory
twilight zone
strange world
sanctuary
prowler
remember tomorrow
children of the ****ed
Songs that are easy to play:
Flight Of The Icarus,
The Trooper
(^I know that both these are on the greatest hits^)
Hallowed Be Thy Name,
Running Free,
Ghengis Kahn,
Where Eagles Dare.
I'll think of some more later when I'm not as busy as I am now, I hope these help you though, up the irons!

Hallowed be thy name
The Wickerman
The Trooper
Number of the Beast
Journeyman (acoustic)

Burning Ambition
Losfer words (Big 'Orra)

Sign of the Cross (I need to play this song with a Bass and 2nd Guitarist)
Paschendale (Those crazy rhythms, I can't get my head around it)

From here to eternity
Translyvania
Killers

Judas be my guide
Aces High

Well there's Edward the Great, it has some of the older stuff as well, but it does have some of the newer stuff.
that would probably be the best one to get for newer stuff, although a lot of it is pre-NPFD. rock in rio isnt a best of, its a live album, but it has a lot of the stuff from brave new world (2000?) on it.

Hi guys. I'm a newbie and a big IM fan. Some of you might know me from the Official IM board. IM fans are some of the coolest fans in the world.
To event spamming, I will not post a link just yet. I am one of the leaders currently supporting a campaign for an exclusive heavy metal video channel. Our goal is to achieve an outlet where our metal artists no longer have to fight the industry to get their music heard. We have (7) artists that have signed so far. YEAH!
Some of our biggest support has come from Maiden Fans. : ) One thing we would love to accomplish is to have our artists take 2-3 clips from their “Live” DVD’s and have those put into music video format. Those music videos could be played in rotation on our proposed channel. It's much cheaper for them and it allows their newer music to be heard. It would also increase CD AND DVD sales.
Okay, well I have rambled enough. I will let you guys tell me if you would like me to post the link.

When I first heard POM, it was my favorite, but now I don't think its as good, as a whole. Tracks 2-6 are all awesome, but the rest isn't the same IMO. Especially Quest for Fire, that song is one of the few Maiden songs that I actually dislike.
Sun and steel pwnz, where eagles dare is nicko's finest drumming moment, and To Tame A Land I was never a huge fan of, but last night it clicked for me. Quest for Fire is cheesy, but if you ignore the lyrics it's decent

Where Eagles Dare may have good drumming, but IMO its way too long and just doesn't do it for me. Sun and Steel is a pretty good song, yeah, very very very very very catchy chorus. To Tame a Land never clicked for me. Just the way it goes I guess. Revelations is still amazing, Die With Your Boots On I always loved, and Still Life is an awesome song too. Flight of Icarus and The Trooper are obviously classics.
an now for something completely different.

cheers. it's mostly a pearl forum, but i'm in the process of buying a mate's kit, which is a premier (not sure which range). The green floor tom is from his kit. Eventually it'll be a ten piece - another bass drum, another two rack toms and a snare which i may turn into a timbale.
when i've got the kit, rather than having it half green half red, i'll strip the wraps, and re-wrap it with pictures of Maiden. That's gonna RAWK.

Remember Tomorrow is boring. Replace it with "Prowler" at the beginning.
prowler ain't that amazing IMO. it's good but not their best.
I'd agree with that, Prowler is a great tune.
Great album opener more importantly.
Plus, I've been listening to a lot of Brave New World recently, I don't see what it is about that album people slate so much, every track is great.
Favourites:

#2: Dream Of Mirrors,
#3:Ghost Of The Navigator.

That said, I'm not a hardcore Iron Maiden fan, I have four of their albums and don't really listen to one of them (Brave New World - I got it a year or two before I actually matured enough to like Maiden, and I'm not sure where it is).
I'm suprised no one's mentioned
+THE WICKER MAN
also
+Passchendale (like the rest of you, it seems)
+Blood Brothers
+Sanctuary
+Run To The Hills
+Dream Of Mirrors
EDIT: To whoever repped me saying "Hello Bob"...
:amaze:
No one's ever called me that except this crazy (but cool) year 8 girl, who can't be bothered to learn my real name (Arkady)...

i haven't heard to many iron maiden songs yet but the ones i do like are the older ones. i think its because i dont like the galloping power chords etc. but i love bruce dickinson's voice its the best of them all. but i think iron maiden had better guitar work in the earlier days

Iron Maiden became more technical, so they technically had better guitar work in the later years. What you're saying is that you PREFER the older guitar work, and there's nothing wrong with that.

"Journeym...I mean New Frontier" as well...I thought I was the only the one.
Wrong, actually.
He's only got one writing credit on an album.
But he's written some of the b-sides, including (I believe) Cross-eyed Mary and Nodding Donkey Blues.

Yeah, Montsegur is an awesome song. Bruce's vocals are killer and the melodies are just plain sick. One of the heaviest songs on that album, too. Age of Innocence, one of Maiden's catchiest choruses, with an awesome verse riff. Great song too. Dance of Death is really a great album, just 80s Maiden > new Maiden.

I love the DoD song. It's catchy.
"When you're lying in your sleep, when you're lying in your bed and you wake from your dreams to go dancing with the dead
When you're lying in your sleep, when you're lying in your bed and you wake from your dreams to go dancing with the dead"
Catchy.

Montsegur is the Da Vinchi Code in song form...who sad metal isn't intelligent?
Dance of Death for me has to be one of the worst title songs, but the stage show is amazing, especially when Bruce dons the cape and mask :thumb:

Right on about the '80s Maiden > New Maiden' thing.
But it's all just too good to compare.

I think the new Iron Maiden is better, they sound less like a punk band (don't get me wrong, I like punk, but I love metal too) and more unique. Plus they're solo's are noticeably better, they're not using techniques which sound hard but aren't and actually using their mastery over the guitar to get any sound they want.
Plus Nicko and Bruce kick ***.

Wrong, actually.
He's only got one writing credit on an album.
But he's written some of the b-sides, including (I believe) Cross-eyed Mary and Nodding Donkey Blues.
*doffs MA hat*
Cross-eyed mary = Jethro Tull. IM, especially Harris, drew a lot of influence from Tull.

I've heard it, I prefer what it evolved to though (Invaders).
Stevie:  Post stealer
Good list :thumb:
Invasion evolved to Invaders? Didn't know that. Invaders is one of my favourite off NOTB. A lot of people don't seem to like it that much.
Rainmaker > Wildest Dreams IMO
Paschendale's definitely the best song on there. Then I'd have to say New Frontier, Montsegur, Rainmaker, No More Lies, and Dance of Death.
EDIT: And what happened to Frail by the way?
IMO rainmaker isnt better than no more lies or dance of death, its average.
Frailandbedazzled1979 used to post loads here but then just randomly...stopped posting.
and to rik: i like invaders.

I've been reading Run To The Hills lately...I got it yesterday.
When I've finished it I might have to have a sweepstake: so far it's mentioned Dave's smile/grin about 30 times and they're only up to 1982.
but davey's grin makes up so much of maiden...

So it seems.
Apparently Dave is the one most capable in a fight in the band, because of his background (always moving from one rough school to another, you either learnt to fight or got crushed) but he's also the most easy going.

What about Adrian? He come from exactly the same background as Master Dave...I reckon he could get in a sly punch every now and then.

Adrian didn't move around as much as Dave.
Dave was always moving from one school another, always the new kid, the one everyone picks on. Dave was also involved in gang fights and stuff.
Adrian wasn't always the new kid, so less people tried to pick on him, and he was never involved in gangs. He was also the baby of the family (youngest of three) whereas Dave was the oldest brother, and so had to fend from himself, he couldn't get the older brother to deal with stuff for him.
Meh...I go into too much detail here.
They could still all pwn most people in a fight though.

Oh, my list there wasn't in any order, sorry if it came across that way. No More Lies and Dance of Death > Rainmaker. But I still like Rainmaker.
Which do you prefer, No More Lies or Dance of Death, the songs are so similar. Personally I like No More Lies more though.

I like Dance of Death, just because it's catchier. lol.
Seriously though, my favorite song off DoD is probably Journeyman. I ****ing love that song.
Edit: I was watching Raising Hell today, I believe it's Bruce's last concert with Maiden before he left, and during BYD..TTS, the magician has a woman tied to a wooden fence piece and he cuts her in two and she's raised up. I've always wondered how they did that ****...anybody care to explain? :x
