Yeah...Steve needed Nicko to extend the drum solo because his radio transmitters battery had gone.

Then the solo finished and Steve was like wtf?...

So Bruce recorded their arguement.

What I don't understand is this:
Why not expand Edward The Great, into a double disc greatest hits?
That, would be great, to be honest Maiden deserve a double disc album and a single doesn't do them any justice whatsoever.

And the last Maiden song I listened to was Transylvania in I.C.T today :p

The last album was Iron Maiden, which I have rediscovered, and I love it :)

Yea they do deserve a double album but as we all know that company EMI or something owns all the rights to the older and better songs. And plus if maiden were to put all there best songs on the same album, a double disk or even a triple disk album it would cost alot.

on 1 day release

They had a lot of Maiden's style (if very little of the guitar pwnage) but they had a cool song (the title had the word apocalypse in it) with Christopher Lee (that's Saruman on Lord of the Rings and Count Dooku on Star Wars II) on guest vocals.

i for one like blaze's voice, but it's kind of bruce's voice but in Paul's range. he's a mixture of the two.

Blaze maths:

Paul's voice - gruffness + Brucey's silky smooth tone = Blaze

Hi all, A newbie here.

I can't believe the number of postings this Iron Maiden thread has! It's scary, actually. :amaze:

On another note, I, too, have been on a Maiden rebirth. I used to have some of their earlier stuff on vinyl, then got into other music and stop buying metal, altogether. But, slowly I've been playing along with and listening(especially in the car) to more Maiden. I'm a bass player, now, but used to be a guitarist. We're talkin' early 90's.......I played the guitar licks. Now, I listen more closely to Steve Harris' bass lines, and I'm impressed. Not so much for his technical ability(he's **** good......but playing jazz all these years, I've heard and played with some greats), but his ingenuity, tone, and songwriting.

I bought the 2 DVD's that came out recently, "Iron Maiden: The Early Years, Pt.1", and, "Iron Maiden: THe legacy of the Beast"(the latter being the unauthorized documentary of the band). I am simply amazed at how hard this band has worked since its inception, and how many members have actually been in the band. I'm particularly interested in Dennis Stratton. I thought he was a very articulate person, and reading up on his background, he seemed like a genuinely nice guy. Does anyone know of his recordings outside of Maiden? I know he is presently in a band called, Praying Mantis. Does anyone have any Mantis CD's they would recommend? Also, does anyone know for sure if he's the one responsible for bringing the dual-guitar harmonies(so much a part of Iron Maiden all these years), or was Steve Harris already writing that way before Stratton joined?

I just bought a used copy of "Brave New World", and am burning it to my hard drive this very minute. What I heard in the car sounded awesome. I can't wait to see them if they come anywhere to northern California. Just curious, though, which lead guitar parts are Janick Gers?

you be right there i think, if i remember rightly from when i watched rock in rio (which was about november), its his style of soloing.

i'm hoping to go to download to see them. well download scotland anyway, its easier to get to from northern england.

steveharris
01-28-2005, 04:11 AM
i like Dave murray's style of soloing, just because its fast and furious whereas Adrian Smith is more rhythmic (if thats a word lol)

Josh
01-28-2005, 04:13 AM
its a word. janicks is more melodic, and some of dave's is more "bluesey". adrian can switch between styles in the solos better than the other 2, but their styles compliment each other.

i was in the pit right in front of dave for the FotD solo when i saw them on DoD tour.

play download the 10th and then jump STRAIGHT on the flight to italy where they are supposed to play the 11....

but i think you might get them in the beggining of june.. since they then have about 10 - 11 days that have not gotten dates yet... nut that could also be of time, but until then they have only played 2 gigs, so i dont see why they would have of days that early...

anyway anybody no any fairly easy songs on bass from maiden i can learn i already no ides of march, wrathchild well kinda, wickerman, the trooper and bits of run to the hills

Why don't you try, "Running Free"? Then, from there, listen solely to the rest of, "Iron Maiden"(the entire CD) and learn the bass parts. In time, you can try out, "Losfer Words(Big 'Orra), off the "Powerslave" CD. It's 'bass'ically just doubling the guitar...........but it's such a cool song.

Also, learn the techniques that facilitate finger-picking in triplets, much like Steve Harris does. It's a good practice and it will make learning the bulk of other Maiden songs that much more complete and accurate. Good luck. :thumb:

Has anyone noticed in nearly every Maiden booklet that comes with the C.D, there's nearly allways a picture of Dave Murray holding a can of larger smiling?

Good work, Maiden basslines are pure ownage

even if they aren't complex they still sound great
The trooper is a cool bassline. I can play "The clairvoyant" pretty good and "sign of the cross". Other songs include "iron maiden" and most of "Fear of the Dark". Steve harris is a hell of a bassist, some of the bass lines he creates are just nuts. :p :naughty:
