none whatsoever. to my knowledge.

i'm guessing it will be Powerslave - Seventh Son. What do ya'll reckon?

Definitely.

I reckon they will do NPFD 'til VXI after that, and then the last will probably be from BNW and DoD and maybe include their new album if it's done before they release that part...

Dance Of Death is an incredibly underated album.
And yeah, I agree, Metalica are so overated.
And there are so many people in my school that are like: 'you like heavy music, you like metallica?'
Cunts!
And Dance Of Death is bloody amazing, i think it's underated because it's gone more melodic and less heavy in places, but other than that i don't see people's problems with it. "Montsegur" is superb.

Yeah it is. And come on... Paschendale... please.

I always think of Maiden albums in eras like...
s/t and Killers: Dianno era
NOTB, POM, and Powerslave: straight NWOBHM era
SIT and SSOASS: progressive-ish era
all the 90s albums: shat era
BNW and DOD: new era type thing

So I pick favorites from the different times. I just do that because I can't pick one favorite.

ForiegnPenguin
01-20-2005, 07:36 PM
I like the 90s era, but your probably right about it being their worst.

ForiegnPenguin

I see. Yes, I think that '80s Maiden produced some excellent albums (Powerslave, SSOASS, NOTB) however, Brave New World, for me at least, is better than some of the '80s releases.

There were a few albums that I didn't care for very much. but as artists we are all allowed a few bad moments...every album cannot be 2112, Sgt.Peppers or POWERSLAVE! right?.

My first album was Number of the Beast... the first maiden song i ever heard was "bring your daughter", which i thought was ok but pretty unremarkable - I couldn't understand why they had such a great reputation.

Then I heard Run to the Hills.
I bought NOTB shortly after, and never went back.

The order in which I got my Maiden albums:

NOTB
Powerslave
FOTD (same time as Powerslave)
DOD
BNW
S/T
Edward the Great
SSOASS *
Killers *
LAD *
LAD *
(all starred bought at same time)
NPFTD
Beast of the Beast
X-Factor

Go acronyms :)

Here's a topic for discussion that I don't think we've ever covered:

What is your favorite Steve Harris end-of-song crazy bass riff? When the song's over and everyone's just sort of going crazy, and Steve always does the coolest-sounding riffs.

I like the one in Run to the Hills, probably because it's one of the few that I've seen tabbed out on mxtabs.

ill tell u hwat i hate polls asking the best maiden song is or any band for that matter. they r all pointless cos its all based on opinion same with best of the beast and edward the great that was prob based on record sales or votes by fans or something they shoulda just put steve an all in a room and said pick your fave songs or something then it owulda been more interesting than having the same songs on 2 best ofs

Yay! What do you guys think of Live at Donnington 92?

Theres bout 3 good songs on it. It starts off with a bang with "Be quick or be Dead" but the guitar playing just seems a wee bit sloppy and theres just not the same atmosphere a others such as Rio but don't get me started on that again.

insiders knowledge :P
i used to work in HMV (up till last month) and they did have some maiden CD's for £5.99 and others for near £18, the reason...there's no good one, but they have 4 sales in a year each, and sometimes they don't sell so you'll see the same CD for 3 different prices all next to eachother...though i bought all mine from the sales using my discount, spent £20 on 5 CD's! (No Prayer, Fear, 7th Son, DoD and Somewhere in Time!)

Off the first album, the song I would choose to represent Maiden at their best would probbably be: Phantom Of The Opera or Prowler.
It's hard to choose because the Di'Anno era Maiden are so much different to the Dickinson and Bailey era Maiden.

I dont really like Di'anno too much as a singer. Rather have Bruce any day. Edward the Great Album was alright. It has quite alot of the classics on it but it dosnt deserve the title Edward the great since its only an average album.
What I don't understand is this:
Why not expand Edward The Great, into a double disc greatest hits?
That, would be great, to be honest Maiden deserve a double disc album and a single doesn't do them any justice whatsoever.

And the last Maiden song I listened to was Transylvania in I.C.T today :p

The last album was Iron Maiden, which I have rediscovered, and I love it :)

I listened to Seventh Son....today and I don't know...

People say it's a classic and their best album. No.. I found it to be good, but failed in comparison the Somewhere In Time, and I can see a decline in SSOASS. There are good songs on there, mainly the middle 3 and Only the good die young. The rest just arn't very good.
