What!? I am sorry you guys but Adrian and Janick just simply aren't as good as Dave. Yeah they fvcking rock and are some of the world's best guitarists, but aren't as good as Dave :D
Excuse me but I do find Dave boring. I mean all Dave does is to hammer-on and pull-off all notes in the same scales. Yes he does have good moments like Phantom of the Opera or Brave new World. Janick is just screwing on all strings. He might be fast but I can't even make out what he's playing when he decides to do it fast. Like on Afraid To Shoot Strangers.
However Adrian doesn't stick to the same thing all the time. In one solo he can start with legato, pinch harmonics then increase speed, then go melodic and bluesy, then go crazy again and end with good tapping.
No offence to Murray fans :thumb:

You may think that he plays different things all the time, but I have recently noticed some similarities in some H solos, like...a lot of the phrases in the solo are exactly the same. Not that that's a bad thing, it works don't fix it...
I don't think you can pick one Maiden Guitarist, they all compliment each other. I mean if H and Dave didn't have their telepathic link, Maiden wouldn't be as good. I think the 3 Axe slingers are a good combination, and are all equally good...
P.S. Janick Sucks... :smoke:
P.P.S Just kidding
I``m probably going to London but Gurs told me they even won`t gonna play there.
I did?
I said there's no London gig confirmed yet, I only said that Donnington was practically a certainty and Reading a maybe.
On the subject of Maiden guitarists:
Jannick is perhaps theoretically the worst - I find that some of his solos play a few notes out of key (not such a biggy) or he bends out of tune (quite a biggy).
The reason why H's solos are as they are, and Dave's solos are as they are, is this:
H plans down all his solos before hand, not note for note, but he may write down some of the licks and plan where he's gonna bend and where he's gonna do hammer-on's etc. This means that his solos are generally well-thought out and hence very exciting.
However, Davey's solos are completely spontaneous - in the studio, on stage, everywhere. Because he doesn't think them out like H does, his solos are therefore less 'exciting' and lacking in diversity; he's only human, he can't think THAT fast on his feet.
Then again, listen to the outro solo of Icarus. Call THAT bad improv.

Yeah of course when it comes to improvising, Davey shows great stuff. I mean, I just like Adrian more than two others. I won't dare to say that Dave or Jan are bad :)
Ashman said this:
"if H and Dave didn't have their telepathic link, Maiden wouldn't be as good"
That's where I can't say no :)
I completely agree with that.
There's one thing I don't like about Jan. I hate when he screws up solos live. Well, he doesn't screw them up. He just plays them different, and most of time worse than studio version. He's probably not that good in improvising.
Also, before H came back to the band, Jan messed with Adrian's solos during live shows. I'd call it "no respect to ex-band member". He shouldn't have messed with them. It was H's solos you know :)
so, what, you'd rather Davey did all the solos for the old songs?
neh, this pic of Jari kainulainen is cooler :p

By the way, do they (H and Jan) play Adrian's part in The Trooper solo together??
I downloaded a video from Kazaa. It's the Trooper in Paris. It's shot with an amateur camera, mostly showing Jan and Bruce. During Adrian's part in the solo, Jan plays it too.
wtf???? However it sounded great :)
sweet.
it could be that H plays the backing chords now...

Your friend is a douche. Iron Maiden is NWOBHM, and can actually play more than one power chord per song.

The only vaguely talented hair metal band is Van Halen. All NWOBHM rocks.

What do you guys think are pretty shure songs they will play on the new tour?
I think Hallowed Be thy name, Iron Maiden, phantom of the opera, the Trooper, Run To the Hills, the number of the beast and Prowler are pretty important stuff for them to play.. after all Prowler was the Song who started everything.. No... They should remaster them properly though.. i think Piece of mind is the album with the worst sound quality.. no matter what steve says, piece of mind have worse quality than Iron Maiden.. me for once, I love the Sound of Iron Maiden.
but they should not rerecord them, that would remove Paul, Clive and Dennis from the first 3 albums.. you got live albums if you want to hear them with 3 guitars...

There are times that I've wondered, and times when I've cried, and my prayers they were answered at times when I've lied...
As the sun breaks, above the ground, an old man stands on the hill...
You'll take my life, but I'll takes yours too, you'll fire your musket but I'll run you through...
There goes the siren that warns of the Air Raid, there goes the sound of the god saving flak...
Can't understand what is happening to me, this isn't real, this is only a dream...
From the coast of gold, across the seven seas, and travelling on, far and wide...

"In a time when dinasours walked the Earth" :p
i have sailed to many lands, now i make my final journey...on the bow i stand, west is where i'll go
you'll take my life but i'll take yours too, you'll fire your musket but i'll run you through
i stand alone in this desolate space, in death they are truly alive
just 16, a pickup truck, out of money, out of luck
infinite dreams, i can't deny them; infinity is hard to comprehend
i am the man who walks alone, and when i'm walking a dark road at night or strolling in the park, and when the light begins to fade i sometimes feel a little strange, a little anxious when its dark...

Nicko is a kind of a dissapointment. The new stuff the drum beats aint as good plus maiden would be so much better with clive.
gurs is going to hate you
plus clive is v. ill
^ tru say
clive has multiple scelerosis.
nicko > clive
main differneces:
clive utilized the hi-hat more, but generally left his ride untouched. a lot of nicko's best drum beats (ace high, the trooper) are extremely ride dependent.
nicko is the best single-pedellar in the world.
clive wrote the worst song on maiden's best cd, nicko wrote an average song on a good cd. I personally like Gangland but a lot of people did.
on the other hand, clive wrote total eclipse \m/.
When you get down to it, Clive had drum lessons but Nicko;s entirely self taught. THat combined with his pedal work make Nicko the better drummer.

A) Voted FOTD in poll

Montsegur or Paschendale are the heaviest songs. What is Montsegur about anyway? I've always been impressed with every aspect of Maiden's song writing on all their albums, those who rag on their capability are not true Maiden fans. I also believe that the Trooper is one of their best and 1 of my faviourite songs. Well ahead of its time ( It's like 20 years old or something )

123, Riva you're a star.
That's one heck of a nice bass. Although if I were given a custom bass of my own, i'd have a J-bass shape.

I think Nicko destroyed the Bass/Drummer divide when he wrote the Bass for New Frontier...
Nice Bass, I would bid for it, except I have none of my university loan left :(...
