Where is the Trooper camp chaos video? I can't find it :(
er...hardest solo probably SSOASS, or Alexander the great...
*we were talking about easiest solos...*
do you have visions of the beast?
if yes, playing track 6 three times in a row unlocks a secret video... a different one for each disc. one of them is the camp chaos trooper.
AND DO NONE OF YOU REALISE THIS IS PAGE 100?
no longer page 100 :upset:

im pretty sure ive mentioned this somewhere in this thread alredy... but what the hell.
The song Paschendale is criminally underrated, or at least i think it is , i dont know how many of you realise how great it is.
its right up there with hallowed be thy name, powerslave and fear of the dark on my all time favourite maiden songs!
maybe people dont talk about it as much because being off the dance of death album, its fairly new but nevertheless to me it was an instant maiden classic.
the song itself is like an epic journey, and an incredible one at that.
the lyrics are amazing and so is the music (especially the barrage of solos!)
i think all the orchestral noises and at one point the sounbd of an eagle or something like it were great finishing touches and they aid the song a lot.
there are quite a few parts of the song that give me chills up my spine no matter how many times i hear it.
what do you guys think?
FrailandBedazzled1979

In my english class last year, not only was I the only one to like that story when we were done it, but before the test I brought in powerslave. Then the teacher turned it off before the bass solo... :upset:
Paschendale is, together with face in the sand and montsegur, the best song on that album. The title track is the worst song on the album. Also, the electric version of Journeyman>Acoustic.
But best of all is Nicko singing Age of Innocence

for being this late in a bands career, you couldnt ask for them to put out a better album. People compare it to much to their early 80's albums, but why? When your 22 and when your 48 you wont be writing the same music and i am just happy that they are writing the best metal they can and still get the positive feedback from fans worldover. people need to stop griping so much about every minute detail and just enjoy the album.
Yes I did like Dance of Death a lot. Especially compared to *shudder* Virtual XI.

or even worse, The X Factor. I really think Steve wanted to keep the band going so badly that he kept them alive despite how the group sounded with Blayze, the only point in Maiden history that i really think was a mistake.
Yes, as much as I'd hate to admit it, Steve did slip up a bit there. But, they have recovered, and it is definitely in style.

Exactly, thats what imporant. I cant think of one rock band who didn't take the wrong fork in the road at least once. Harris, as much as i love him, is such a determined and hard headed guy that i dont think he wanted to see this band that he put so much of his life and soul into die, and living in a half-*** version of it was better than pulling the plug. Yet like all hard times in groups careers, they returned with the best come back album i can think of and are stronger than ever. Many bright days await us in the land of Maiden :)
Yes, it will be a place of eternal sunshine for more than a while, I hope.

**** right... Though I do think people seriously under-rate Blaze's material with the band. Sure, it wasnt as good as other stuff but I think things happen for a reason and Blaze's stint in the band showed the rest of them that they sounded best with Bruce, and no-one could really replace him

They wrote some good songs when Blaze was in the band, just I feel he wasn't as good a singer as Bruce or Paul. I like the sound of the first 2 albums with Paul singing, it just sounds more raw. Bruce is still my favourite singer Maiden have had.

My take on Maiden. I like Dickinson better than Diano. My favourite album is Piece of Mind and song...Revelations. Concert viewings=2. They also happen to have the best fvcking artwork of any band ever. Musically sound. The whole band.

the rot set in long before blaze arrived because NPFTD and fear of the dark were poor by maiden standards the whole of the 90's were poor maiden albums by their 80's standard then they did BNW which was brilliant
If Steve wanted to write songs about his own personal suffering he shold do it in a good Dream of mirrors/sign of the cross way not a Judgement of heaven way

or even worse, The X Factor. I really think Steve wanted to keep the band going so badly that he kept them alive despite how the group sounded with Blayze, the only point in Maiden history that i really think was a mistake.

people say that bruce's voice keeps getting better, but sadly i have to disagree.
compare his voice on DOD and BNW to piece of mind or powerslave, on the newer albums his voice sounds frail and he cant hold a note for as long anymore without making it sound all shaky.
not to say that it isnt good, even on the newer albums hees still one of my favourite vocalists ever, and its understandable that he doesnt sound the same since he's aged 20 somehting years.

My fav songs on visons are probably hallowed be thy name, fear of the dark and 2 minutes to midnight. but just about all are great.

how can this exist? i know some people actually say it's a decent album, but i disagree. it's got a very few worthwhile songs in it - judgement in heaven is initially my favourite, but sign of the cross is a HUGE dissappointment after hearing the RIR version, and the other song i had heard good things about - blood on the worlds hands - was a bit on the crap side to tell the truth.
however, i've only listend to this once through - on initial impressions, when i bought fear of the dark and powerslave at the same time, i thought the former was better than the latter. how very wrong i was - the 2nd time listening to those albums and my perspective changed completely. so we'll see how it goes with this 'un

I've got a bootleg DVD of Iron Maiden from what I think may've been virtual XI's tour but I'm not certain, Its from Argentina. Its so ****ty Blaze's voice can not stay in pitch for more than 3words.
Also Maiden's popularity dropped so much during the Blaze years and Nicko hated him, From what I've heard he used to stand up then point and laugh at Blaze during the Clansman at the intro at shows. I can not stand any of Iron Maidens greats whilst Blaze is singing them on that DVD I just can't watch it. They're in some small indoor arena which I'm sure only hosted afew hundred people.
Also I'm Thingy_guy just with a new acount if anybody remembers me...I doubt anyone will though

IMO it deosnt compare to powerslave piece of mind somewhee in time or number of the best.
still a great album though - YOUR TIME WILL COOOMMEEE!!!!
It's the best of their newer albums. I prefer it to Dance of Death.

I would go for the dream But Paschendale is brilliant too especially live
I prefer BNW because of the ghost of the navigator and the Wicker man
but if you replaced The fallen angel with Paschendale and the thin line... with DOD you could potentially have the best Maiden album ever

i dont agree with that list, not for a greatest, no somewhere in time/seventh son/killers/iron maiden?!? and 4 tracks from DoD? not sure, but a good list anyway
but i guess til they invent CD's that can take over 80 minutes of music i couldnt decide on tracks for a maiden greatest album

you can but you would need some sort of portable dvd device. I use DVD's to store everything. Like windows xp or half of the stuff on my hard drive. Ha they are cool. Has anyone been to france. Im going on thursday. I HATE FRENCH PEOPLE HELP???? but its halloween so im going to have fun :smash:
best maiden album IMHO would be:
1. Moonchild (best opening for an album)
2. Killers (Live, Maiden England)
3. Total Eclipse
4. Paschendale
5. Running Free (Live At Donnington)
6. Still Life
7. Flight Of Icarus
8. Fear Of The Dark (Live Rock In Rio)
9. Number Of The Beast
10. The Wickerman
11. Montsegur
12. The Clansman (Live Rock In Rio)
13. Powerslave (Live After Death version)
14. Hallowed Be Thy Name
15. Out of the Silent Planet

Paschendale pwns Dream of Mirrors. IMHO I think Dream of Mirrors was one of the worst songs on that album. Dream of Mirrors and Paschendale are in two different leagues...

Their is 1 big error on both of those lists...NO PHANTOM OF THE OPERA ON EITHER OF THEM!!! That song is Maiden at perfection I wish their where more songs which could be as fun to play on bass and guitar and still have a great feal that never dies.

Yeah, Phantom of the Opera is practically mandatory. And Hallowed Be Thy Name has to be the last song; why else would Maiden themselves keep it at the end when they added "Total Eclipse" to the NOTB remastered version?

(These are the songs off the 5 albums I own)
1. Aces High
2. Phantom of The Opera
3. The Prisoner
4. The Number of the Beast
5. The Trooper
6. Two Minutes to Midnight
7. Flight of Icarus
8. Rime of the Ancient Mariner
9. Hallowed be Thy Name
10. Iron Maiden
11. Wicker Man (I don't own this CD)
12. Sanctuary
13. Age of Innocence
14. Powerslave
15. No More Lies
Can anyone guess which CD's I own? And I know Gurs is gonna hate me for saying this, but IMO Clive Burr is a better drummer than Nicko McBrian, and Adrian is their best 2nd guitarist ever. IMO the best lineup is best on NOTB, with Bruce, and Clive, and Adrian. Who's in your favourite lineup?
Powerslave, Number Of The Beast, Iron Maiden, Piece Of Mind, Dance Of Death.
Same as me, except add Rock In Rio and Brave New World :thumb:
Anyways, can anyone tell me what Wicker Man is about? Because I saw a movie at my video store with the same name, and I was wondering if they are related at all.

Nicko owns all drummers in the universe EVER...Need I say anymore?
no. *look at my screen name*
and i was toying with the idea of having phantom in the opera on my ideal cd... but in truth, you're gonna have to leave some songs out. and, well, i think only took a maxium of 3 songs from each cd (less in most cases), and the three i chose from the STA were, i feel, more necessary than phantom. but it's still a wicked mad song

I knew that you would disagree Gurs! I'm not a drummer, and I just was listening to the ST and NOTB and I enjoyed the drums more. I still think Dave Lombardo of Slayer is better. You can't say I can't have my opinion though. Anyways, what is the picture that is made when all the CD's are put together? It looks like thefront cover of the ST, is that what it is?

IRON MAIDEN: Eddie Rips Up The World - Oct. 20, 2004
According to a posting at the IRON MAIDEN fan site MaidenFans.com, IRON MAIDEN's upcoming tour will likely be called "Eddie Rips Up The World Tour", based on the various posters appearing for the already-announced dates. The trek will apparently comprise between 20 and 25 shows. It is unknown if this number represents the scope of the entire tour or only its European leg.
Nothing is known about the opening date of the tour and the continents that will be visited. However, MAIDEN vocalist Bruce Dickinson has told the Swedish newspaper Goteborg Posten that the last show in Europe will be the Gothenburg gig at Ullevi on July 9 (this is still in line with flying rumors that MAIDEN might make an appearance on Ozzfest 2005 in the USA).
OMG I WOULD GO CRAZY if they did Ozzfest, as i get front row every year!!!!

Dave Lambardo wether in Slayer, Grip Inc, or Fantomas has one style of drumming. He never changes up what he does in a song and i never felt did anyhting more than be a basic metal timekeeper, Bostoph was a much more well rounded drummer than Dave and Nicko's stlye is alot more important to Maiden than Lambardo's is to Slayer.

nicko is like so much better. clive was good i have to admit. but nickos better.
Clive and Nicko are two different animals. When Clive was in the band the music was more agressive and raw sounding and his power drumming style fit that like a glove. When the band evolved with Bruce in the lineup their style of writing changed and they begane to write more epic music that required less agressive drumming and more structured playing which is where Nicko steps in, he's diverse from album to album (listne to each one, he follows a pattern on each album). Both are essiential to the Maiden sound, but i dont think Clive would have sounded as well blended with how Maiden turned out as he did in their early days.

hehe thank ya thank ya :) i wanted to hit a decent number of albums (they just have so many!) and i could care less how many times they've played the number of the beast and run to the hills...they are just to **** special to watch live to miss!! yes i would love to hear out of the silent planet live, funny how it was a single from brave new world but wasn't included in the setlist for the tour.
PS: if you ask me they could have cut out "dream of mirrors" and put in "out of the silent planet" or "the fallen angel".
I'd prefer to hear "out of the silent planet" more than "the fallen angel".
