If you drill it where the end of the crack is, I think it will stop forming.
Or you could cut it down and make it like.. 3 inchs.

I vote you cut it down to just the bell....
Or you could drill out the crack, and drill a bunch more holes and make an O-Zone knock off.
Just be very careful when you drill not to make even more cracks... you have to drill at a very high rpm with a drill press and lower it ever so slowly.

I think the best way is to get a grinder and SMOOTHLY grind the cracked part out; this method only works if the crack is fairly small, unless you want an extremly off balance cymbal. My drum teacher did this to a cracked A custom crash and it still sounded pretty good.
It would look like this:

I am sad. I was looking at my 14" Istanbul Trad cymbal (which was my only crash for awhile, plus has been beat pretty hard by people wanting to play my set) and I noticed the tiniest crack. It was really weird. It was a small radial crack, that goes along with the groove that circles the cymbal. Its barely noticeable. I thought it was just a line, but I started pressing down on it and it bent down behind the crack.
Probably not a big deal, at my old HS the Vintage A Ride that we had had one of those radial cracks at all, it was there as long as I remembered, never got bigger, and it was a beautiful ride.

If the cymbal is still under warranty just mail it to Sabian with a copy of your receipt. As long as the crack isn't ridiculous they'll replace it.

As stated above, I have seen people grind or cut the cymbal slightly higher than the crack with some success. Hope this helps.

Relax, its only a pro sonix, replace it with a wuhan.
If its under warranty take it back
DO NOT PLAY IT ANY FURTHER

Why would he replace semi-good cymbals with crap? (imo)

I have a 12" WUHAN china that I just cracked last week. I will take before and after pics of it...I am going to drill the ends of the crack to stop growth....Then I am going to hand hammer it for a diff sound...It is a thin china so any cutting could be done w/a pair of tin snips...

I've done the drill hole method and cut off a peice of your cymbal method.. both resulted in slowing the crack, but eventually it continued to grow.

MarkI crack Wuhan chinas like I eat white bread (And My fridge looks like a wonder bread factory). GC replaces most of those cymbals for free. Have you tried that yet Mark?
