I have a spare steel snare that is currently sitting at the other side of my hi hats at the moment.:thumb:
But i have taken the throw off down and it is a kind of bongo drum at the moment.Because i cant tune it hoe i want it because it one of those no name snare drum that comes with a sheddy kit and it has crappy skins and u get the idea but, I want it to be a nice second snare for use.
Out of i t i want a nice high pitched poppy sound that a pdp 10" would usually give you.I would buy a pdp if i had the money but i have other things to concentrate on at the moment. But if i can spend a quarter of the money that i would use to buy a pdp to make this 14" steel snare sound poppy i would, and thats what im planning on doing.
So i want a poppy head combination to go on it. Atm i have a coated c.s blackdot over ambassador snare side for my main snare which is giving a nice ring and i love the sound so i dont want the same sound as my main snare i want a different one.
So my question for you is what heads will give me a nice high pitched poppy sound for my 14" steel snare drum and how would i tune them to make them even poppyier(if thats a word):naughty: .
And also i was wondering whether it is worth buying new snares for my main snare drum and my second snare? Would that make a difference? If so what are some good snares for both types of snares?
When i go down to my drum shop i am going to be buying a big dog foo6 throne :thumb: <<< x 100 and a copy of stick control to plough into to develop my rudimental side of drums and control of course. Also the snares and heads for my drums.
Please help on the heads and snares and comment on the purchases and any other thing you would like to add.
Thanks a bunch for all advice and comments apreciated :chug:
