Ive been playing about 4 years and I have a crash a ride and hi hats as my only cymbals. Im working with the minimum here. I play all times of music, I like to diversify :)

My only suggestion would be to not order cymbals off the internet, you might get it, .. and it might sound like garbage, .. try the cymbals out yourself, and buy them when you can hear them all together. That and Wuhan chinas sound like assssssshole

I would but the thing about my local music store is, they have display cymbals that they have that you can try out, then if you want to buy it they order it off of musiciansfriend and get it to you
So i just decided to cut out the middle man. Ive heard all the equipment before, so im not just pulling all of this outta my ***.

And what do you suggest for China?

abandonthetruth

Well, .. you wont find a china for that price, .. but If your looking for something trashy and dark, look into the K's, ... if your looking for brighter and a little more musicality, I would personally go for the Zildjian Oriental china trash, .. i have 1, .. looking to reaplce my wuhan wiht another.

EDIT: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Zildjian-Oriental-China-Trash?sku=441425 ... this one

I wonder what the price difference woudl be ... i'm not gunna work it out, but i think you'd end up saving a couple hundred overall which you coudl throw back into a better china...

I shall look into mass music

EDIT: I looked....they dont have alot of options there. They dont even have the AAXplosion......

EDIT #2: Im a dumbass

Only downside to Massmusic, is that all your heads would be bought seperately, cause they dont sell them in packs.

Er, yes they do have the AAxplosion...

MF seems to be matching them in price as far as Sabian/Zildjian goes now...

Weird, .. MM always beat MF, ...

But, .. MM is MUCH MUCH more reliable.

Leprechauns1021

How so?

mysticalyeti

Well, massmusic still destroys MF's Paiste prices, if you click the little dot at the bottom of the screen to get the page with all the prices.

I can't speak greatly on either's overall reliability, but I will say that Andy at massmusic is a great guy, he even has an account here.

When my last order from MF came in, it was half open, and I had a cymbal stand laying on top of my brand new heads.

That's a lot of ****, I just saw all the links, and realised, that's a lot of stuff to read.

I'd just buy one hella big expensive thing for 1,500.
Like a Winnabego.

i dont see a problem with ordering them offline, i order all mystuff offline, its usually cheaper, plus if you dont like it, send it back. just dont play the cymbals very heavily, otherwise youll get marks on them and they wont take em, ive sent cymbals i didnt like back numerous times. theres no problem, you dont have to pay shipping to send it back so what do you have to lose?

Instead of buying all that stuff you might as well save up some more money to buy a pro kit, if you don't have one already. After that, then you should buy cymbals and all the little extras.

Leprechauns1021
09-02-2006, 10:42 PM
My current kit is just fine. Theres nothing really wrong with it, and a pro kit will just be a small upgrade if anything even noticeable.

I got offered that a series ping ride for $189 at my local music shop. And the stage hats were $250. And that's crappy canadian prices.
