maybe someone will know and remember what i'm talking about. a few years back, there was car commercial (nissan i think, but i'm not sure) where there was this guy (nicely dressed) hiding in an alley. then these other guys go into the alley in a black sedan (again, nissan i think) and start throwing water balloons at him in slow motion, while a famous male opera piece is playing (typical 'mafia hitmen whacking a guy with a family' type song that you'd see in a movie). anyway, what i mean by this long-arse post is: does anyone know the title or singer of that song? it's a very well-known opera classic.

i hope that made sense.

When I think of opera songs in the commercial world I usually think of O Fortuna by Carl Orff. I have no idea what commercial you are talking about, but this song tends to be in (or ripped off in) alot of commercials.

There are a few very popular opera songs although I don't thiunk any of them fit your description.

One is from the opera Pagliacci by Leoncavallo.

Another goes something, "Libiamo, libiamo...."

Then there's Finiculi, Finicula.

And finally La Donna E Mobile.

There may be others I forgot.
