Where to start out at...

I want to start building basses soon but I don't know really where to begin. I dont have anybody to work under, but do have available equipment. And with a new job i have some money that i'm willing to spend for supplies ect...

this may be more of a question for jp or som, how did you guys start off to become the lutheries that you are today???

by looking for reading materials and checking out how to draw full scale guitars is what i would start off with.

start by modding up some basses, i'd say. thats the way im starting.
