I'm going to be moving over to fixing the lesson site soon, so I won't be adding new features to sputnik for a little bit. In the meantime, please make a concise list of errors/bugs you find. Note this is not for suggestions, just bugs

I'm pretty sure this is just me having a problem but it seems like whenever I transfer text from Wordperfect to the site, I always end up getting weird text characters. It's only started happening, as far as I can tell, since my last review. Ex.: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album.php?albumid=10781

I can change it manually but it's pretty tedious. Is this happening to anyone else? If not, is there something I can do to avoid this in the future?

Yes, it's happening to everyone. Sputnik can't recognize curved apostrophes or quotations. You can either change the characters in your word processor, or edit in straight characters directly from Sputnik.


And yes, it sucks :(

I write all my reviews in Notepad first. Sure, it goes without the luxury of a spelling and grammar check, but if you know how to spell and use correct grammar for the most part, Notepad is a worthwhile substitute.

EDIT: The point of this post was, writing in Notepad doesn't give Sputnikmusic a headache and make your apostrophes and quotation marks goofy.

Clicking "Next" under the User Reviews section on the main page brings you to an error message that says 'Unknown column 'pos' in 'order clause'

I think this goes hand-in-hand with the coding error, but all of the older reviews have their quotation marks (" and ' and also -) replaced with question marks (?). And someone just negged some dudes Velvet Revolver review for it...

I've noticed some of the quick links from band pages lead to the wrong destination. For example, contact.php leads to http://www.sputnikmusic.com/band/contact.php

How are you posting now if it won't accept your password? Just go to User CP from the forums and go to 'Edit Avatar'

I don't know what he's specifically talking about, but I made a band list yesterday and the descriptions don't show up, even though the text appears on the edit screen.

EDIT: Whenever I try to look at the second page of posts in a listening party I get a blank white screen with an error message.

whenever i search sigur rós (which they are apparently and do apparently have reviews on sputnik), i get an error message that i think skyler said came from the accented o in their name.. any chance of maybe fixing that up particularly?

Non-standard characters like accented vowels and marks of punctuation re incompatible with links for the time being. If you want to search a band with one of those characters in it, and it doesn't work with the search engine, just google it and it'll take you to the working page.

They don't seem to work on most lists. Occasionally there will be one list that has them, but they don't work on almost all of them.

The only list that works for me with descrips is albums.

Btw listening party's can't go past the second page in comments without recieving a page error.

I still can't see my profile when logged in. I'm on a new computer, with a different browser now and yet I get the same stupid error message about not contributing to the site. If I haven't contributed to the site, I don't know what to call it.

That works, but what about the part that shows my last updated reviews? Did that get removed? When I am logged in and click 'Me Profile' that's when I get that not contributing screen.

Your last updayted reviews are now accessible from the review sorting links right above where comments show up on sputnik. Just arrange them by "My Reviews".

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but I regularly get only the first half of the page loading. It's kind of annoying as you have to refresh the page multiple times and even then it sometimes doesn't load.

I've never gotten that once. I have gotten JS spill over though, a few times. I don't remember where, but it's really on much of the site sometimes.

It happens a lot when I look at music news. It also happens (but no way as much) if I look at band profiles and user profiles. It's never happened when I look at reviews.

EDIT: It's also happened when I've clicked on a listening party but it isn't frequent in that part of the site.

the jane's addiction profile won't work because the " ' " always has a \ in front of it and it cant read it. ust thought i let you know.

When I put my mouse over one "Members Also Liked" selection, and move down/up to another, the whole "writing panel" (ie. not the black columns on the sides) goes grey for 1/4 of a second.

The horribly pixellated album cover images need to be fixed. It seems the 125x125 images were stretched to the new 150x150 size, but uploading a 150x150 image makes it look even worse.

^ yeah I thought it might be that, but it's not, cause when you try searching on a band page it works fine(for me anyways) and it sometimes works on the index page at random. Could be some coding issue?

Make sure you guys are only clicking once in the dialog box and not double-clicking. If you click anywhere outside the dialog box, you're clicking on the entire banner, and after you click once, that entire banner becomes 'active' (including the dialog box) if you click anywhere again.

So: click once, type the band, hit enter.

i've figured out a temporary fix. click inside the find the band box and hold the mouse button down. keep the button held down and drag your cursor out of the box. then type in the band and hit enter

Sorry but I don't have time to check if it's already been said but there is a problem with the band members on band pages. I edited the members of Blue King Brown yesterday but they remain the same with some random names listed.

When you're logged out of the forums, jump to the last page of the thread.

From there, you won't see the dialog box to type a post, but click on the "Post Reply" button that's underneath the last post of the thread, in the bottom-left corner.

After clicking, you'll come to a log-in page... be sure to click on the "Remember Me" box, and this way you'll remain logged-in to the forums until you clear your cookies.

Well, yeah, that "big announcement" was for security reasons... but if you're like me and tend to ignore "big announcements" because they come up once in a blue moon, go ahead and do the checkbox thing. I change my password pretty often, but it's better for me because I tend to write big posts and by the time I get done typing it, I get logged out... and whatever I posted I can never get back.

site ranking works like this: you write reviews, you get an approval %, and you are ranked based on that

if you did not add the album then you can't edit it. post in the report problems thread above this one and the mods will do it.

Approved reviewers are reviewers who write reviews of a certain standard. You can become one by reviewing frequently and such.

i accidentally added a new album when i reviewed darkthrone's a blaze in the northern sky. please delete it, it has an exclamation point at the end to make it different from the actual album. also the king diamond page has an album called i think themqout&qout and some symbols or whatever which need to be deleted. it was a mistake i added the album a long time ago.
